Noise Induced Hearing Loss

A course of lectures and practical measurements designedfor those concerned with occupational medicine and thewell-being of employees will be held on 14 and 15 June1976.The course will be a useful introduction to acoustics

and will take the form of an introduction to the scienceof noise. Toxic Metals

A Symposium on Clinical Chemistry and ChemicalToxicology will be held at Monte Carlo from 3-5 March1977. Medical Code of Practice for Work in CompressedAir (CIRIA Report no 44) £10 (£3 to members ofCIRIA)

The first edition of this book became widely used as theaccepted standard for work throughout the Britishtunnelling industry. Based on research by the MedicalResearch Council's Decompression Sickness Panel theoriginal code gave recommendations on the equipmentand procedures required for safe working in compressedair and tables for regulating decompressions.

This second edition incorporates changes arising fromthe Employment Medical Advisory Service (Factories ActOrder etc. Amendment) Order 1973, and has been broughtup to date after discussions with the Medical ResearchCouncil's Decompression Sickness Panel, and repre-sentatives from industry and government.
