Some facts about BritainWhen people talk

about Britain they often think about people wearing bowler hats, drinking tea and beer, eating fish, but there is more than just those things.

They are proud to be different!

They celebrate their public holidays in different ways from other nations - for example, New Year`s Day.

They have holidays which are only connected to them -Boxing Day, Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day.

Some specific customs are connected to these holidays.

For instance, on New Year`s Day a custom of First Footing is well known, then for Boxing Day a custom of giving money to the people who have worked all year is known too. There are also traditional pancake races which are held in Buckinghamshire.

The national costumes they wear

As for the British national costume, they don`t have one. However, men who look after queen`s jewels and herself are called Beefeaters, and they wear clothes which can be considered to be a national costume.

In Scotland the most famous national costume is a kilt.

What is different in London?

Different taxis and buses

Why? They want to bring more tourists.

Most famous buses are double-decker buses with an open roof.

Today's taxis are the exact replicas of the 1930s.

What are British favorite drinks

One of the most famous drinks is TEA.

Tea parties

Tea is traditionally brewed in china tea pots.

A place where every adult Briton goes out

Pub is short for `public house`

There you can find good conversation and drink good beers

They are connected to the tradition

Different from cafes and bars and unique for Britain
