In the last two weeks, Year 9 and 10 have been doing a cross-curricular project based on the Hungarian film Saul fia (Son of Saul). The film tells the story of a prisoner in the death camp of Auschwitz during the Holocaust from a very special point of view, and it won the Grand Prix in Cannes as well as the Oscar for the Best Foreign Language Film in February 2016. In a series of lessons in Hungarian, History, English and MFL, students have discussed the historical background of the Holocaust, and compared some extracts from other films on the

same topic to see how this film is dif-ferent as for filming techniques and per-spective. As the final part of the project we invited Ms Julia Varadi, a cultural journalist who has written a book based on interviews with the film makers, to have an interactive talk involving the students. The project has given students new per-spectives in analysing film language and provoked some very interesting thoughts about this important and sensi-tive topic, so we are planning to do sim-

ilar projects in the future as well.
