Bristows Furniture have been supplying our trade customers for over 40 years. Originally we were the main supplier for Maples and Waring & Gillow.

Many of our pieces have had subtle functional design changes to accommodate modern equipment. Much care has been taken with the proportions and the amalgamation of traditional construction methods and modern manufacturing techniques and materials.

Over 95% of our furniture is made in Britain.

We specialise in providing attractive period furniture to make your house a home. We have adapted traditional designs to facilitate modern equipment such as televisions. Our furniture, nests, drinks cabinets and leather settees all harmonise and add style and character to any living room.

Our leather sofas are hand built in Britain using the finest materials and traditional construction methods throughout. The chesterfields can also be upholstered in a fabric of your choice.

Our hand finishing and authentic antique patinas will add beauty and comfort to your living environment. The construction and traditional designs will help to retain your enjoyment of these pieces for years to come.

We can produce television cabinets and stands in any size and in a variety of timbers. You are welcome to talk to us about any special requirements that you have.

There is a back in the cabinet to stop light coming through. In the centre of the back there is a large cut out to allow air flow and cabling.

Our selection of sideboards will add practical storage and serving tops to your dining room. Produced in a variety of styles serpentine, flat, bow or breakfronted. All the drawers are constructed using traditional dovetail joints and cutlery inserts may be added. If you have a special requirement for a reduced depth due to lack of space or an extra long unit for a boardroom please ask, we can help.

Our tables range from a very compact dropleaf gateleg to a banquet or boardroom size capable of seating up to 100 people. The most sociable table for eating with the family or entertaining guests is a round one that has the facility to extend when required. Many sizes are available from 30” diameter or 84” which when extended could seat 18 people. As with the rest of our range a variety of timbers are available.

We have a selection of chairs to suit any environment from the simplistic and elegant design of the low back regency chair to the more imposing high back chippendale with ball and claw legs. All of our chairs are constructed in solid hardwood using traditional mortice and tenon joints and have framed and webbed upholstered seats.

A place to display and protect your treasured ornaments and collectables (and reduce ‘dusting’ time!). These units come in a variety of designs from low units to tall flat or Bow Fronted Cabinets, some with functional drawers and cupboards below for extra storage.

We use specially selected solid wood veneers. Many items have inlays and cross banding on doors and drawers. Each pane of the glass doors is individually hand cut and puttied in the traditional manner.

There are a number of different glazing designs, each product will be supplied with the design shown in the brochure unless otherwise stated. Mirrored backs and lights are available on request.

We can usually modify an existing item or produce a bespoke piece of your own design.

The principle of Modular Bookcases is that they can be ordered and supplied as stand alone individual units or as part of a sequential run with other units either in a straight line or around corners. This furniture is not ‘fitted furniture’ but is freestanding with flush back panels, so will stand in front of any skirtings.

Fitting linked units together is achieved by simple locking devices in pre-drilled holes. Height adjusters are fitted on multiple joined units and units with doors to allow for uneven floors or carpets. All units are supplied fully assembled not flat packed. (A fitting service can be supplied at additional cost).

The cornice is the overhanging moulding on the front and sides of each unit. Please bear in mind when working out your design sizes that a moulding of 41mm will be added to each final end unit. All measurements given exclude the cornice.

The carcase width of our bookcases are 32”. The cornice at each final end is 1 ” (41mm). This run would be 99 ” (252cm) wide including the cornice or 96” (244cm) carcase width.

The standard height of our bookcases is 78” (198cm). Bookcases have an internal shelf depth of 12” (300mm).

Units without deep bases can be joined at right angles without the use of an internal corner unit.

This includes Units TDD TDA TDB

A low run of bookcases round a corner.

Bookcases can be between 36” and 96” tall which gives you the opportunity and freedom to have your bookcases made to the height you require.

They can also be reduced in width to utilize the space available.

Bookcases are available with base doors but still keeping them as shallow as a standard bookcase. Glazed doors are also available for the top section, see the product details (TDB) for further information.

These units have been joined by an internal corner unit the TEE and have the attractive open corner display unit TPP at the left hand end to finish them off.

Deep base units can only be joined at right angles using corner unit TCC. They can be joined to TDD, TDA or TDB but only in a straight run.

The low sideboard unit can be joined in a straight run or joined at right angles using corner TKK.

Consisting of a cupboard base unit two drawers, with an open bookcase above.

Standard bookcases are 78” high (198cm). This unit has five adjustable shelves giving six rows of books.

As model ‘TAA with a pair of bevelled glass doors.

This unit has an open top with adjustable shelves. The cupboard below has one adjustable shelf.

This glazed top unit is shown with optional square glazed bars. Standard units will be supplied with bevelled glass doors. See option page 80 for alternatives.

This unit is supplied with an internal top fixing rail and an under pelmet fixing rail to enable it to be drilled and screwed to the wall. This must be carried out by a competent tradesman due to the enormous weight that this may have to carry.

This small external corner uses 16.75” (42cm) of wall space.
