PREPARATION:This is MDF wood so I basecoated it with my back-ground colors. You will need at least two coats for a good coverage. Start in the center of the piece paint-ing with a mix of Salem Blue plus a small amount of Victorian Blue. As you move toward the outer edges, pick up Hauser Dark Green and continue blending slightly. Keep the center area light and working this dark mix on the outer areas. Softly blend all together trying to keep the center light. Repeat as needed. Allow to dry. Using your stamp or stencils, apply the script writing using Blue Chiff on. Spatter Warm White. Allow to dry and trace your pattern on.

Little Red Jalopy:Basecoat the main truck area Santa Red. Repeat as needed. Basecoat the area behind the snowman, the fenders, and the top of the jalopy Cranberry Wine. Highlight the truck area with Watermelon Slice. Shade Cranberry Wine. I added just a hint of Santa Red highlight to the top of the front right corner. Shade the lower areas of the fenders with Cranberry Wine plus a tiny touch of Lamp Black (tiny amount). High-light fi rst with Santa Red, and then Watermelon Slice. Repeat any of these steps to get some light and dark contrasts. The seat under the snowman is Lamp Black with a tint of Victorian Blue.

Tires:Basecoat Lamp Black. Float a wisp of Victorian Blue to highlight the lower area. Without cleaning your brush, pick up Salem Blue and wisp a lighter high-light over the same area. The hubcaps are the same. I picked up Lamp Black and Victorian Blue together on my liner brush and added the spokes.

Snowman:Basecoat him Warm White, shaded Winter Blue, and then a hint of Salem Blue. Dry brush or fl oat his cheeks and lower lip fi rst with Poodleskirt Pink. Using a small brush sideloaded in Dark Chocolate, fl oat his eyes in. Without cleaning your brush, pick up Lamp

Black and fl oat over the Dark Chocolate, but not cover-ing it completely. Add a Warm White highlight dot to each eye. The nose is Jack-O’-Lantern, shaded Santa Red. His little smile line is Boysenberry Pink. Strengthen his cheeks with a mix of Poodleskirt Pink plus a touch of Boysenberry Pink. His coal tummy buttons are Soft Black, shaded Lamp Black on the lower area.

Hat:Basecoat Lamp Black. Highlight with a wisp of Victo-rian Blue. The red band is Santa Red shaded Cranberry Wine, and highlighted Watermelon Slice.

Jacket:Basecoat Santa Red. Shade Cranberry Wine, and high-light Watermelon Slice. Any time your shading needs to be a little stronger than just Cranberry Wine, add a teeny, tiny, touch of Lamp Black to it. I used this mix on the lower area of his jacket where it folds back under. His gloves are Cranberry Wine. I didn’t shade or high-light them. For the fur cuff , and fur balls on his jacket, I loaded the corner of a small fl at brush in Warm White and dabbed in the fur.

Scarf:Basecoat Foliage Green. Shade Hauser Medium Green, and then Hauser Dark Green. Highlight Lemonade. The decorative dots are Lemonade.

Lantern:I painted my lantern Lamp Black fi rst just to keep my pattern located. Float Golden Straw over the lantern, and outside of the lantern. Repeat if needed but keep it transparent. You will cover some of the lantern, but you can paint it back in. In the center, pat blend Ba-nana Cream. Repeat if needed. This area can be more opaque. Pat blend Light Buttermilk on top of this. Now you can repaint the lantern. Wisp Victorian Blue on the right side for a tint.

Wreath:Dab Foliage Green to start your wreath. Pick up Hauser Dark Green and add more dabs. Clean your brush and pick up Foliage Green plus Lemonade and dab in high-lights. I did add a few Warm White ones also. The bow is Watermelon Slice, shaded Santa Red, and highlighted Watermelon Slice plus Poodleskirt Pink.

Tree:Dry brush or wisp the branches in using Hauser Dark Green. Come back over them using the same technique with Foliage Green, and then a little Lemonade. Top with Warm White Snow. The trunk is Dark Chocolate shaded Soft Black.

Detail:Add Warm White snow randomly over areas of the de-sign. Spatter carefully with Warm White. Just enough to feel like its snowing on his journey. Float around the outer area with Hauser Dark Green with your Glaze Wash brush. After this dries, pick up Victorian Blue plus Salem Blue and fl oat inside the Hauser Dark Green to resemble a jar. Float extra highlights with just Salem Blue.

Lid:Basecoat Slate Grey. On the second coat, pick up Payne’s Grey and tip your brush in Victorian Blue and softly blend in. Repeat if needed. When dry, fl oat Payne’s Grey in the crevices. Dry brush Salem Blue over the bulges. Pick up a little Blue Chiff on and highlight some more. If you need to go back and add Payne’s Grey in the crevices, then do so. If more contrast is needed, fl oat Soft Black over the Payne’s Grey. Now add some Warm White sparkles to the highlight area.

FINISH:Spray varnish several times allowing to dry in between sprays.
