Ourteachersusethelatestresources,all inatechnologyrichenvironment.Each PrimarystudenthasaccesstoclassiPads and every Secondary student has their own iPadPro.
WeareexcitedbyourHighPerformance Sportsprogramprovidingopportunitiesfortheschooltopartnerwithelitesports,NewcastleJets,TerracePhysioPlusandtheAustralianInstituteofSporttoinspiregreatness.

OUR HISTORY
Commencingoperationsin1995with41students,twoteachersandtwodemountables,theschoolhasgrownsteadilywiththeintroductionofSecondaryeducationin2005.
Today,MedowieChristianSchoolisahealthy,thrivinglearningcentredeliveringinspiringeducationforstudentsfromPreptoYear12.Ourschoolhasamultimilliondollar
multipurposehallwithfull-sizebasketballcourt.Allclassroomsarefullyair-conditionedandequippedwithinteractivetechnology.

We aim to provide the students at Medowie ChristianSchoolwiththeopportunitytodeveloplovingheartswithhelpinghands,fromMedowietotheworldbeyondourshores.
WewantthestudentsofMedowieChristianSchooltodevelopaloveforthecommunityandaheartforresponsibleglobalcitizenship.Weseektobecomeacommunityknowngloballyforitslove,care,bigdreamsandpassiontomakeadifferenceforGodbydevelopingaspiritofgenerosityamongst ouradolescents.

TheroleoftheDefenceTransitionMentorattheschoolistoprovidesupportandassistancetostudentsofADFfamiliesandtohopefullyalleviatesomeoftheconcernsthatfamiliesmayhavewhentransferringtoanewschool.
Theaimoftheroleistoprovidealinkbetweentheschoolandthefamilythatcomplimentsthesupportservicesofferedbytheschool,whilstrecognisingtheuniquechallengesfacedbymobileDefencefamilies.
TheDTMisfundedbytheDepartment ofDefencebutisconsideredanemployeeofMedowieChristianSchool.TheroleisresponsibletothePrincipaloftheschool.

SETTING FOUNDATIONS
MCSPrepaimstodevelop4yearoldchildreninauniquelearningenvironmentthatprovidesthemwiththebestpossiblefoundationtoasuccessfullearningjourney.PrepwillequipthemwithauniversitytrainedstaffmemberspecialisinginEarlyChildhoodalongwithaqualifiedTeachingAssistantinordertofacilitateasuccessfulandsmoothstartwhichhelpsintheacademicandsocialdevelopmentofthechild.

CURRICULUM
StudyoftheNESAandAustralianCurriculummandatedcoursesacrossallStagesis presentedinconjunctionwithawiderange ofinnovativeelectivesubjects.Studentshavetheopportunitiestochoosevariouslevels ofMathematicsandEnglishcoursesin Stage5and6.
Aswellascoursestaughtonsite,studentscanalsochooseVocationalEducationandDistanceEducationcoursesinStage6whichfurtherenhancesthewiderangeofopportunities onoffer.
CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS
AllstudentshavetheopportunitytoparticipateinvariousperformingandcreativeartseventsincludingMADDnights(Music,Art,Dance,Drama),schoolmusicalsandothercommunityperformances.Werunanextensiveperipateticmusicprogramprovidingtuitioninarangeofdifferentinstruments.
SPORT
Secondary students have the opportunity toparticipateinanincreasingnumberofsports–utilisingfacilitiesonsiteandinthewider community. Many of our students have enjoyedsportingsuccessatanational,stateandregionallevelthroughcarnivalsandgaladays.Tofurtherenabletheseopportunities,MCShasaHighPerformanceSportsAcademy.
WELFARE
Educatingoutstudentsholisticallyisveryimportant,asweseethedevelopmentofthewholeperson–mentally,physically,emotionallyandspiritually–necessaryforpotentialtoberealised.AswellastheHeadofSecondaryleadingtheWelfareTeam,wehaveStageAdvisors,SchoolPsychologistandseparateGirls’andBoys’Advisors.
AswellasourdailyCareGroups,thestudentshaveaChristianStudiesprogram,weeklyChapelsandMentoringprograms.
FURTHER OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCES
Studentsinallyeargroupshavetheopportunity to go on a camp each year. The purposeofthesecampsrangesfromabondingcampinYear7asourstudentstransitionintohighschool,tocampswithaspecificsubjectfocusinYears8and9toaStage6campwhichispreparatoryforthemoveintoSeniorSchool.Subjectspecificexcursionsandfieldtripstofurtherenrichstudents’learningareorganisedregularlyinallyearlevels.

WearedelightedthatthisuniqueprogramisthefirstofitskindintheNewcastle/PortStephen’sregionforindependentschools.We are proud of our partnership with Terrace PhysioPlustoprovideexpertinstruction,assessment and support to the students engagedwithintheHighPerformance Sports Academy.
Likewise,wearehonouredtobedeveloping apartnershipwithPacificDunesmovingtowardstheestablishmentofaGolfAcademyhereinMedowieChristianSchool.
TheprogramwillalsoprovideSecondarystudentswiththeuniqueandexcitingopportunitytoattendadevelopmentcamp attheAustralianInstituteofSportinCanberra.

Thereisnowcompellingevidencethatincreasedlevelsofphysicalactivitycanbringwide-ranginghealthbenefitsthatimpactuponthepopulation.Thesebenefitscanextendbeyondphysicalhealthtoincludeotherbenefits,suchasmentalhealth,personalwellbeing,andsocialcohesion.Sportcan alsomakeanimportantcontribution totheamountofregularphysicalactivity anindividualengagesin.
Bylearningthefundamentalsofmovementanddevelopingapositiveattitudetophysicalactivityandsport,childrenacquiretheskills,experience,andattitudesthatwillallowthemtotakepartinsports,aswellasinfluencingtheirlevelofphysicalactivitythroughout theirlives.
Physicalliteracyincreasesthelikelihoodofsportsparticipationandlong-termphysicalactivity.Researchhasshownthatthechildhoodyearsareacriticalperiodformotordevelopmentandtheopportunitytobecome‘physicallyliterate’.
