Coach, Role Model, HeroSports is a valuable tool to reach children where there at. Bring It In – Israel recruits and trains young Jewish athletes and coaches, teaching them how to use sports to connect children to Israel and share their personal Israel experience.

The Bring It In - Israel Fellowship combines formal training in sports based youth development and Israel education, with hands on in the field training running sports education days for Israeli youth from around Israel. www.Bringitinisrael.com

Selection CriteriaThe Bring It In - Israel Fellowship was open to young Jews from North America on Long Term Israel programs.

Fellows were selected based on their involvement as leaders in the Jewish community, and on their achievements as athletes and youth coaches.

16 Fellows applied and 8 were selected.

The Bring It In – Israel 2010 Winter Fellowship was composed of 4 American and 4 Canadian Fellows from 5 different Long Term Israel Programs: Aardvark Israel, Career Israel, Real Life Israel, Pardes, and Young Judaea Year Course. To learn about our fellows click here.

How To Tell Their Story

Kramer spoke to the Fellows about the power of a story.

Fellows learned about The NU Campaign and the causes on the shirts with the story of the cause inside.

Youth DevelopmentTomer Rubin - Israeli Youth Basketball Coach

Lead the fellows through the activities that make up a practice.

Fellows learned fun and engaging drills that keep children moving while honing their fundamental skills.

Coach Rubin taught fellows how to adapt basketball drills to other sports. Positive coaching:How to communicate with children; Problems to look out for during drills.

In The FieldThrough in the field training Fellows gained the opportunity to put what they learned to practice. Fellows coached over 360 Israeli children from different backgrounds, connecting with Israeli children from all over the country.

Sports education days focused on teaching listening, communication, teamwork, and English.

Leading the Way In field training days gave Fellows

the opportunity to:

• Master the Bring It In – Israel activities that make up the curriculum.

• Hone Hebrew sports vocabulary in the field.

• Work as coaching teams, dividing responsibilities, and working off each other’s strengths.

Working with Professional Israeli Basketball Teams

Two Fellows intern with Hapoel Jerusalem and Bnei Hasharon Israeli Men’s Professional Basketball teams.
