Chapter 1: General Characteristics

Chapter 10: Generational Influences: Your AgeGroup

In this chapter we will discuss characteristics and traits of your generation.Of course, you may not share all of the characteristics of your generation, butyou are greatly affected by the tone that is set by your generation.

The first topic is "The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of Your AgeGroup". In this section we will describe a deeply felt urge, even compulsion, ofyour age group. This deeply felt drive comes to the surface with great forceand power, and consequently leaves in its wake considerable upheaval andchange. The second topic is "The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group",that describes the dreams, fantasies, and spiritual aspirations of your agegroup. The third and last topic is "What is New and Different in Your AgeGroup", which describes areas in which your age group tends to be innovative,inventive, unusual, and also where it may be unstable and unreliable.

The characteristics described below may affect a group of people foranywhere from a few years to about 30 years. There are one or more differentastrological factors described in each of the three sections below.

The Subconscious and Emotional Drive of YourAge Group

You are part of a 25 year group of people who have strong feelings forhome and country. You are a sentimental group, and feel deeply attached toyour family and your country. You cling to the familiar, are distrustful and fearfulof different cultures, and consequently a great deal of racial and ethnicprejudice is common among your age group.

Your need for closeness and togetherness runs very deep and causes youto bond closely to family members and old friends, and also makes you proneto be involved in mass movements and group activities because they feedyour largely subconscious need for acceptance and support by others.Unfortunately, your age group is easily carried away by a group frenzy andmany of you often lack the integrity or courage to think and act in anindependent and rational way.

Your generation is very emotional and tenderhearted. Many of your groupsacrificed a great deal to help your children or other family members, whileother generations are unwilling to give as much as you have. Your tenderfeelings and regard for the well-being of others can spur your age group tomake contributions towards the feeding of the hungry, care for the neglected,and support for the needy, particularly children and mothers. You are a groupof people with a strong heart and a helpful hand. Many of you have parentsand/or children who are not nearly as supportive and helpful; many of yourcontributions are not completely appreciated or even go unnoticed.

You were also born during a period that lasted approximately 5 years and ischaracterized by extreme restlessness and an impatient, dynamic attitudetowards life. You are part of a group of people who can be explosive and evenviolent in their reactions to situations. You do not tolerate being restricted, andyour age group rebels with force and anger against oppressive situations.

The Ideals and Illusions of Your Age Group

You are part of a 14 year group of people who are conservative andmoderate in spiritual aspirations. Your age group tends to avoid speculation onmetaphysical matters, and interest in psychic phenomena is considered verystrange and weird by your age group. There is also a strong sense of right andwrong, and religious practices tend to emphasize ethics and moral judgment.The conservative, straight-laced atmosphere generated by your age group isfrustrating to more imaginative types, who consequently rebelled against it.

What is New and Different in Your Age Group

You are part of a 7 year group of people who are very progressive inbusiness and practical matters, and implement scientific ideas in practical waysto make life more comfortable. Home appliances, for example, were improvedand marketed by your age group to a much greater degree than was previouslydone.

Your age group is also rather sensual and romantic, and is uninhibited inexpressing romantic feelings. Your age group rebelled against repressiveattitudes towards sexuality, and promoted overt expression of sexuality inmovies, music, etc.
