www.goboland.com Goboland is delighted to be lending its support to organisers, Scattered Media on this inaugural launch of EvenTech, Scotland and to be offering Goboland services to businesses across Scotland and the North of England. Goboland, in conjunction with Scattered Media, have provided the external projection drawing attention to the show and acting as a guide to direct people to the venue. The façade of the Marriott presents an ideal projection surface, viewable as it is from encircling M8, and signals to all both far and wide that something exciting is happening. The gobos depict a montage of tartans (all approved and passed by the well qualified organisers!) and of logos of the show sponsors in a Mondrian inspired arrangement. The artwork has been created using our unique organic dot process and produced in full colour glass. The gobos are projected from two Robert Juliat 934SNX profiles situated in the forecourt of the hotel and housed within a tent to protect them from the elements. The projection angle necessitated some keystoning, with the artwork undergoing a double plane distortion performed by Wyatt Enever of Studio Wyatt. This ensures the image appears true when focused onto the hotel frontage from the low angle of projection. Now you are here we would like to take this opportunity to invite all of you who are attending to come and visit us on our stand (number 39) which is conveniently located near the bar! We will be showing our coloured glass gobos with organic dot screening technique, our award winning Black Steel Gobos – LDI Best Debuting Product Year 2007 – and our renowned Black Holes. Also, in response to the positive feedback we received during its preview at PLASA, have chosen the new show to officially launch the Gobo Tweaker. To make life just a little more comfortable, Goboland have produced the Gobo Tweaker. This handy little gadget incorporates any design from the Goboland Premier Steel Collection into an all-in-one unit complete with handle. The Gobo Tweaker fits into a standard gobo holder while the handle is used to orientate the gobo within the lantern into the exact position required, with no additional tools. The heat dispersing holes in the handle ensure manipulation can be made without burning the fingers. Gobo Tweakers are produced in the new, non-reflective Black Steel and are readily available in B size from the Premiere Collection. Custom designs and other Collection designs can also be made in the Gobo Tweaker format, making alignment of logos and other images are fast and easy on site. As part of our quest to constantly improve the quality of our gobos, Goboland has created the Black Steel gobo to meet the demands presented by the high optical quality of today’s lanterns. Each gobo is coated with a black, heat-resistant coating, which does not burn or peel off under extreme heat. The coating minimises internal reflection, producing a crisper image with no halo effect.

Encouraged by initial tests and feedback, Goboland has a patent pending on the use of this material for gobo production. The new technology comes with no extra cost to the customer.

Goboland Black Steel Gobos are produced on 0.2mm (0.008") stainless steel with a heat-resistant black coating and are available in sizes to fit most lanterns, projectors

and moving lights on the market.

The Goboland Collection offers over 1100 designs, all of which are available in the new Black Steel which will gradually supersede the uncoated steel gobos across the whole of the Steel Collection. Custom designs are produced in the new material with immediate effect.

Goboland Black Holes were launched at PLASA 07 to complement the Black Steel gobos. This high-tech donut sharpens gobo projection by removing excess light and lengthening depth of field. It also has a blackened surface which helps reduce unacceptable reflections in front of the luminaire.

The Black Hole is marked with pop-out stops – equivalent to 1 to 4 photographic stops – to enable accurate calculation of between 50% and 94% of light reduction. By eradicating the less effective outer parts of the beam to concentrate on the optically efficient centre, there is little visible drop off in the intensity of the output. In addition, the resulting lengthened depth of field makes it easier to sharpen a projection across the full width of

the image area, even when projected at an angle. This makes it ideal for keystoned images in architectural, retail, corporate and art applications.

Black Holes are available in four sizes to cater for most lanterns on the market. (Now there’s something the physicists didn’t know!)

Here at Goboland we continue to push the boundaries to produce ever-better quality gobo images. The arrival of Wyatt Enever as Consultant, renowned for his specialism in high resolution projection, combined with Goboland’s innovative technical capabilities means that, between us, we have taken gobo resolution to another level.

When reproducing photographic images, the human eye can pick up the straight lines produced by using conventional half tone screening systems, causing unwanted Moire patterning, especially during soft edge overlapping of images.

Goboland glass gobos, therefore, can now be produced using a unique organic dot process which gives finer tonal representation to photographic images, both colour and black and white and eradicates the straight lines which can cause such problems.
