Synopsis on the Activities of the Men of HFWM/CPA in the Year 2014
Men in the HFWM church have been challenged via messages to ‘wake up and take the lead’ in spirituality. Messages preached by lead teachers had themes such as “Where is Adam?”, “What do you have in your hands?” and “While men Slept!” We as men in the HFWM felt severely challenged and came together as a group to work together. This marked the birth of the Men’s Fellowship which has now has members across HFWM and CPA. As with any start, we have had our fair share of challenges. Meetings coincide with members’ daily, family, secular work and appointments, but the perseverance of all has led it to a successful start with very memorable sessions.
The Men’s Fellowship agenda is woven around Proverbs 27:17. Topics featured prominently in our fellowship meetings included: Theme of the Month, What I do, Self-Development and Men Issues.
In meetings, members discussed and meditated on the month’s theme examining it from different perspectives as the Lord gives us understanding.
In What I do, a member is nominated to present to everyone on his career using PowerPoint presentation slides and what he does as work. Questions are asked and it has been a very enlightening initiative.
In Self-Development (SD), we initiated as a start a PRINCE2 Training Session, and are proud to confirm a number of people are working towards their PRINCE2 Foundation level exams. We also have about 5 people preparing for Practitioner level Exams. Our SD initiative is open to members and non-members including women. We have been tremendously supported by SIEVEMK in hosting our sessions
On Men’s Issues we have focussed on our moral obligations to the body of Christ and our duty as heads of our families. We discuss and share openly on our personal and leadership challenges and expectations as husbands as described in Proverbs 18:22; Competition between husbands and wives; leading a Godly family like Elkanah in Samuel 1 compared to the life of Eli, both men encountered God’s visitation in their houses: Elkanah for blessing and Eli for judgment
Other activities included praying for each other, supporting the choir, raising funds to meet special needs and programmes in the church and football in summer to keep fit.
Goals for 2015
To look at additional course areas to include in the Self Development sessions To develop career discussion sessions for our children where members can do presentations
on their work for children to have a motivation. If possible we might consider inviting guest contributors
To work towards the development of stronger marriages within the family by strengthening the bonds and ties which exist before us.
To work towards “Knowing Who We are”. Visits to each other so we can all know ourselves/families better.
Encouraging men to participate as choristers Keeping fit always and getting closer to God
We men of HFWM/CPA are proud to say The Lord has been good!
