Brief Review of INFEO www.infeo.org
• INFEO is a distributed system for search of EO and related data
• Catalogue Search of INFEO uses CIP profile of Z39.50
• Find collections of interest• Find products of interest• A system of middleware nodes and gateways
• Since Feb 2001 INFEO has been operated by ESA– Priority improvements: User Interface and Performances

INFEO Catalogue Search Architecture
– INFEO node manage database of collections– GATEWAYS provide access to catalogues (EO and other
databases)
Main INFEO Node and MCF (at ESRIN) Other INFEO nodes (eg RAL)
GATEWAY to EO database
(e.g. ESA/MUIS)
GATEWAY to EO database
(e.g. BADC)
GATEWAY to EO database
(e.g. NASA/IMS)
GATEWAY to EO database
(e.g. DLR-DFD)
ACCESS to GEO servers
(under test)

How to add collections to INFEO
• Add a gateway• Describe the collection• Add the collection to INFEO and test

GOME Level 3 Data Products GOME Level-3 data products are produced and provided on behalf and in responsibility of the German Aerospace Research Establishment (DLR) not on behalf of the European Space Agency (ESA). DLR Level-3 data products are based on validated ESA Level-2 products. The GOME Level 3 products are 16 bit quantized, so 65,536 values can be imaged. Since the global thinning of the ozone layer occurs in a range below one percent, 8 bit quantization might be too inexact. If one imaged a range of 100 to 500 DU, the relative accuracy would be ca. 1.56 DU. With respect to the entire range, these would be percentage steps of ca. 0.4, just below the resolution (0.5%) required for detecting thinning of the atmospheric ozone layer.\n\nThe main purpose behind the generation of the rolling three-day synthesis (GL3O3GRC) is to provide a total global view of atmospheric ozone distribution.
