VIEWS AND PERSPECTIVES
OF AYUSH DOCTORS AFTER
IUCD TRAINING
Family Planning is an important and
established intervention in achieving
all the major goals of NHM and
millennium development goals
Under this convergenence with AYUSH ,
Health and Family Welfare training
Centre is organized trainings of IUCD,
each of five days duration at Sanjay
Gandhi Memorial Hospital
Special thanks to Dr Surender verma
(Deputy Director) DTE of AYUSH and
CMO HQ Dr. Mridula pandey who
recognised and acknowledged this
Potential & instrumentalize convergence
with AYUSH in Family Planning services a
success
Initially, on being nominated for this
training programme , we were very
skeptical as to what is our role as
AYUSH DOCTORS in the family planning
set up especially IUCD.
But after undergoing this 5 days
meticulously planned and executed
training ,we could imbibe as well as
visualise the broader aspect of this
programme in achieving the goals
setup by G.O.I as per FP2020.
Now we are better placed as servicer
providers in the family planning arena too,
in addition to our regular O.P.D’S as
MOTIVATORS
AND
COUNSELLORS
We also refreshed , enriched and
enlightened our clinical experiences and
it was a visit down memory lane to our
gynaecological clinicals where we could
not catch up certain things which
this training has successfully achieved.
We were sensitized, motivated &
encouraged to provide family planning
services and were upgraded with latest
IUCD insertion techniques.
Visit to O.T and Labour rooms gave us the
practical exposure after a free hand on
Madam ZOE.
We as AYUSH doctors can complement
our allopathic colleagues in motivating
and counselling as detailed case
taking and patient-doctor rapport is our
forte.
As AYUSH doctors we were already
providing family planning counselling
but after undergoing this training we
find ourselves to be better placed in
imparting IUCD method specific
counselling
This rigorous training has further
enhanced and updated our knowledge
about
No touch technique of IUCD insertion
Standard universal precautions as well
as specific infection prevention
practices
Biomedical waste management
We will strive to put the knowledge
acquired in this training to maximum
and practical use in our respective units
for the promotion of reproductive
health of women and society at large
We all extend our gratitude to the Dr. Puneeta Mahajan
(M.S)SGMH , Dr Lakhwinder Kaur and other faculty members who
contributed whole heartedly and painstakingly for the success
of this training programme.
Special Thanks to Dr Lakhwinder Kaur ( training co-ordinator)
who has set a bench mark as a trainer, is not only an excellent
teacher , but a patient listener who heeded generously to our
demands on covering the topics not included in our training
schedule.
