The “Who”
• The opportunities range from R&D to operations (e.g., ISAF in Afghanistan), but mostly involve consultancy, development and integration.
• The Network-Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC) has already committed to collaborate by: – Providing and adapting existing NCOIC tools – Providing specialized Industry review of NNEC products – Developing patterns, services and building blocks in support of
NNEC – Engaging into the NNEC Roadmap
• Other vehicles for cooperation: NIAG, FFCI, SoW, TBCEs, Industry days, exercises and demonstrations …

The “How and When”
• The NNEC Roadmap, under development by ACT, is both: – The temporal vision on how NNEC is going to be achieved, and… – A decision support tool to facilitate NNEC implementation
• It allows “operationalizing” the NNEC concept, while linking it to the required capability developments efforts
• The roadmap is fully consistent with the comprehensive approach, caring also for non-NATO and non-military actors
• Industry can find very useful information when exposed to the NNEC roadmap

Conclusions
• This is a perfect moment for Industry to engage in NNEC activities. There are mutual benefits: – For Industry: strategy awareness; early planning; market opportunities; – For NATO: expert peer review; consultancy support; product availability
• The NNEC Roadmap facilitates interoperable capability development, beyond military-only scenarios, and supports NATO, Nations, industry and other stakeholders.
• Activities and results can and must be used for other users beyond NATO: – Realizing the objectives of the Comprehensive Approach – Maximizing potential Return on Investment for Industry
