There are different methods to use this technique. Here I present specially the Zigzag Spiral "Square", which is used primarily for fir branches and feathers. For the different fir branches I worked with ring spiral to achieve different needle lengths. The ring spiral is shaped into a "short" rectangle. When opening the ring, it is recommended to press all the folds again. Then you fold the zigzag pattern and glue it to the middle strip, so you can create different fir branches or even feathers. For the fir branches, the zig-zag strip is glued to the upper tip with the larger zig-zag side. At the beginning of this new technique the special challenge lies in the second fold, since this should be made identical for both zig-zag strips. So it takes a lot of patience and exercise until you develop a natural feeling for evenly zigzag strips. So please do not despair. Below you will find different Quilling fir branches incl. material and measurements. All photos are in original size, so you can immediately recognize which fir branch would be suitable for your Quilling project. This was a short introduction to the new zigzag technique.
