CURRENT DUTIES:

Supervision: I am responsible for the assignment of tasks and monitoring of timely completion of program projects by one Information Technology Specialist 2.

Manage OnDemand Upgrade Project: I am the project manager. I keep track of the project timeline and coordinate any resources required by the team. I also assist in testing, copying data from the current to the new system, and upgrading the client’s software.

Decision Support Software: I am responsible for the installation of software on desktop and updates for both the server and desktop. I am also responsible for documenting the system including diagrams, Architectural Decision documents, and procedures for administrative maintenance. In addition my responsibility is to assist the users with problem resolution, training, and general support on use of the software.

Maintain Internet Information Services (IIS): I manage the IIS environment used to host locally developed applications. This includes initial setup, security configuration, and maintenance of the system. Security configurations are based on the Center for Internet Security standards.

Upgrade of Microsoft Access applications: My duties were to convert Microsoft Access 2003 ADP projects to Microsoft Access 2010 ACCDB. This include creating ODBC connections, make the connection only to necessary tables and views, converting SQL Server Stored Procedures to views that are used by list and combo boxes. These applications are used to create high volume transactions for mainframe processes; ensure transactions are edited, formatted, and uploaded for mainframe processes properly; and provide statistics for approximately 150,000 daily transactions.

Redesign of large program application: I am responsible for all phases of designing a LAN based application for the complete automation of New York State’s scholarship programs previously administered using different PC based applications. The final product will provide for the processing of applications, monitoring of academic progress, payments of awards to over 2000 schools and the proper handling of approximately 25 million dollars in scholarship awards to 23,000 students annually. The ultimate goal is the consolidation of processes into one central system.

Program testing: I was involved in testing phases throughout the life cycle for Y2k projects involving both mainframe and pc based applications; coordinated testing and test conditions for web based applications providing updates to individual student account information as well as specific college data.

Development of pc based applications: I accomplished programs to assist in administer numerous state scholarship programs. These programs were used by agency staff to make eligibility determinations; to monitor academic progress and service obligations; make manual award payments to schools and to provide managers with statistical reports used to make budget projections and to monitor processing volume. Among these is a program used to administer New York’s Aid for Part Time study. This program is used to administer 14.6 million dollars in annual appropriations as well as the calculation of award payments.

Procurement: I research staff and program needs as well as products and available vendors to substantiate my recommendations for the purchase of software and hardware used by agency staff.
