Litter: Please do not leave litter around the venue, use the litter bins provided.

Attraction of Exhibits F(1) 17f: The attraction of attention of exhibits by any method from outside the ring is prohibited, it is the duty of the Judge, Steward or Show Management noticing such attraction to ask it to cease.

Identification on Cages / Crates: Exhibitors are reminded that it is their responsibility to display their Exhibit / Bench number on Crates / Cages at all times. This is a Kennel Club requirement. The original Exhibit / Bench number card, as provided by the Show Society, must not be used for this purpose.

Soft Crates: The Kennel Club has drawn attention to the potential health and safety implications concerning the use of soft crates at shows as in its view, they do not offer sufficient protection to dogs. Soft crates left unattended at the ringside are a potential hazard particularly when occupied by large breeds, and it has been known for dogs to become distressed and move soft crates along the floor and also escape. Soft crates should only be used when there is sufficient room available and when they can be safely secured.

12. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible.

13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition.

15. All dogs resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.

16. DOGS IN VEHICLES ON HOT DAYS: Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations.

Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events.

☺ When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams.

☺ If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all.

☺ The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.

☺ Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog.

☺ When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle.

☺ Keep the dog in the shade – take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated.

☺ Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time.

Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare.

WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOURVEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILILTY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED.

Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show.

17. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered.

18. No modifications will be made to this schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club which will be followed by advertisement in the canine press wherever possible

19. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed Shows within the licensed venue, and within the environs of that event, including car and caravan parks and approaches.

20. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches.

21. A dog may be disqualified by the General Committee from any award, whether an objection has been lodged or not, if proved among other things to have been registered or recorded as having been bred by the scheduled Judge. This shall not apply to a Judge appointed in an emergency.

22. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number.

23. Information from Entry Forms will be stored on computer and the name, address and details of entries may be published in the catalogue, unless otherwise advised: information results may also be published and/or provided to the press for publication. Information about exhibitors may also be passed to any regulatory authority or trading standards. The making of an entry is irrevocable consent for the storage and disclosure of information in this way.

Use of Electrical Equipment at Shows

The Kennel Club is becoming increasingly concerned at the amount of electrical equipment being used by exhibitors at shows, including hair dryers and hair straighteners and other grooming devices. Electrical equipment should not be brought to shows unless absolutely necessary. In rare instances where it might be required, it should be PAT tested and permission sought from the secretary of the show before it is used. The Kennel Club has also been informed of recent instances of exhibitors commandeering certain areas of a venue in order to have access to power points so as to use electrical grooming equipment. This is totally unacceptable and particularly unfair on the breeds whose allocated areas have been cramped because of this selfish behaviour.

Security at shows In light of recent events the Kennel Club would like to issue a reminder to all Societies of the importance of security at dog shows. The Kennel Club understands that due to the nature of dog shows and the quantity of paraphernalia exhibitors bring it would be extremely difficult for show organisers to take on the issue of security alone, therefore we would reiterate the advice being given by the Police and security services, that everyone in the UK should remain vigilant and this applies to those organising and taking part in dog shows. The importance of exhibitors feeling that they and their dogs are safe when attending a show cannot be underestimated. We would therefore remind you of the importance of the need for show organisers and exhibitors to remain mindful of potential dangers and that all visitors generally need to be vigilant and alert. Furthermore the society should provide robust notification informing exhibitors of where to report to should they see anything suspicious or of concern, and of the evacuation procedures in place.

Judging at partnership shows

Partnership shows are those which are held where a host society and another club share a venue and facilities in order to allow exhibitors the opportunity to exhibit at two events during the duration of the host society’s show. In most cases, the host society’s event will be a general championship show held over a number of days. At partnership shows, a judge should not officiate at one show and enter and exhibit at the other show even if they are exhibiting a different breed on another day to that which they are to judge.
