Calculate the tides for the port. Set up electronic navigation aids - enter waypoints and check function. Advise duty engineer / Chief Engineer giving at least one hours notice of departure time. Obtain latest weather forecasts. Book pilot, linesmen, tugs. Will pilot board from shore or boat? Switch on Radar and Echo Sounder. Check Course Recorder. Check error and alignment of all gyro repeaters. Test VHF. Advise authorities of departure. Test navigation and signal lights. Check whistle (if permitted). Test echo sounder. Check enough paper remaining. Test windscreen wipers and clear view screens. Check shipboard communications. Walkie talkies and phones. Synchronize all bridge clocks and engine room clock. Check operation of manoeuvering printers. Check times on course and engine movement recorders. Hoist correct flags. Read draught and check vessel is not overloaded. BRIDGE DEPARTURE CHECKLIST

Check all required charts are onboard and that a passage plan has been drawn up for the voyage. Calculate the tides for the port. Set up electronic navigation aids - enterwaypoints and check function.

Advise duty engineer / Chief Engineer giving at least one hours notice of departure time.

Obtain latest weather forecasts.

Book pilot, linesmen, tugs. Will pilot board from shore or boat?

Check all crew are onboard. Check ship has received clearance from customs, immigration.

Receive report from Engine Room - main engine ready for use, adequate power available, bow thruster on.
