Mission Possible: Graduation and Beyond Supports all students in 3 life areas:

Academic Career Personal/social/emotional

Project SUM (Supporting and Understanding ME)

ASCA Model Framework-evaluation instruments, lessons, data, etc.

Mission Possible: Graduation and Beyond

MP & Elementary Career lessons that stress the importance of

graduation and thinking beyond high school to meet career goals (2 collaboratively written lessons each year K-5). Who am I? What are my talents? How do I support my gifted

areas? What do I need to do to reach my goals?

“Graduation ceremony” for fifth graders to mark this important step towards high school graduation.


MP & Elementary Grade levels referred to as “The Class of….” during

presentations, announcements, events, signs in hallways and in classrooms, etc.

Career Fairs promoting career options beyond high school

5th to 6th Transition Project (includes MS 101 Guide) provides students and parents opportunities to gather information that promotes a smooth transition from elementary to middle school.


MP & Elementary Students from the Class of “…” (Kindergarten) have

opportunities to attend school for one day at the high school.

High school principals have breakfast with the students of the Class of “…”

Kindergarten celebrations are held that emphasize high school graduation.

Seniors visit 5th grade students in their classrooms

Our REALITY….. Reduction of Graduation Coaches due to budget

issues and reduction of staff (lost 16.5 certified counselors for 10-11 school year and 1 additional counselor for 11-12 school year) Graduation Coaches were responsible for Whole School

Career Projects and Career Classroom Guidance and MS Career Portfolios

Increase in Class Size due to Budget Issues 25-28 Working Computers in Labs to use for

GACollege411 for 30-31 or more students in classes


Our REALITY….. 46% of our Class of 2010 and 47% of our Class of 2011

graduates applied and attended….2 year, 4 year, or technical college, not 80-90-100%

24 students grades 6-12 register and enroll each day Every student had a six-year plan, but it was not

completed during the 8th grade year until 10-11 Continued to include ESEP Leads due to IEP goals for

students Some students lose permission to use Internet or parent

signs that they are unable to use Internet and thus, cannot use Internet at school for GACollege411
