About Brick Christmas
This eBook was created to show unique opportunities for hands-on learners to use their special gifting and learning style in a fun way while celebrating the Christmas Season. The word “Christmas” is used throughout this entire eBook. We created Brick Christmas to celebrate the Christmas Season and all things winter and snowy. When to use this eBook: The first portion of Brick Christmas offers 12 Days of Lego Christmas. Each day offers at least one brick creation to make. Some days offer three creations. This eBook also includes: 4 Obstacle Course Ideas 2 Decorations & 2 Games 4 Snowflake Activities 2 Word Hunts 1 “Coloring Page” I highly recommend viewing all brick creations on your laptop, desktop, or idevice rather than printing out every single page. The colorful brick images will drain your ink. We encourage you to print the activity sheets. Our brick creations are an idea to spark creativity therefore we do not offer directions or instructions. Allow your creative learners to add, take away, change, or create something completely different. Colors do not “have to” match. Shapes do not “have to” be exact. We created 2 dimensional “mosaic” type creations because they are the easiest to photograph. Jake will quickly share that 2D creations are not his favorite to make. Feel free to allow your learners to create 3D creations! If you are on Instagram tag us at @StefMLayton or hashtag #BrickChristmaseBook * some pictures have been watermarked “educatinglaytons.com” this is our old website that is no longer available.
12 Days of Legos!
Count down to Christmas by creating one Brick Christmas Creation each day!

12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 1: 3 Santa Things
Build these three creations: Santa Down the Chimney, Santa Hat, and an Elf.
We love the movie Elf, so every time I see this guy I can’t help but laugh.
Look for Operation Santa Claus – 4 Obstacle Courses after the 12 Days of Legos.
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 2: 3 Winter Sports
Build these brick winter sports: snowboarding, ice skating, and aerial skiing.
12 Days of Lego Christmas Day 3: 3 Winter Animals
Build these brick winter animals: reindeer, polar bear, and penguin.
Other winter animals you can build: snowy owl, arctic foxes, wolf,
walrus, or arctic hare.
Find more animals and print the Arctic Animals Word Hunt.
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 4: 3 Snowy Things
Without much snow in Florida we do not enjoy many “snowy things” … besides snow cones! We know brick snow is not as fun as the real thing,
but at least we have a snowman!
Build these fun brick snowy things: snowball pile, snowman, and snow cone.
This year I want Jake to build me the Abominable Snowman from
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Give that a try!
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 5: 3 Grinchy Things
Would Christmas be complete without The Grinch? Not in our home! The Grinch is one of my favorite books and movies.
It’s tradition to watch it every Christmas.
Build these brick Grinchy things: Mount Crumpit, The Grinch, and Grinch’s {big} Heart.
You can build the brick Christmas tree at the end of this eBook and add
a ton of different bricks for a Who’ Ville Tree.
12 Days of Lego Christmas Day 6: 1 Christmas Village
I love Christmas movies and the decorated snowy villages. Build your own cozy brick village.
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 7: 3 Decorations
Let’s decorate!
You can’t go wrong with these brick decorations: lights, wreath, and don’t forget the brick candy canes!
12 Days of Lego Christmas Day 8: 3 Christmas Songs
It’s time to play those Christmas Songs! Here we have recreated a few of our favorites:
Winter Wonderland, Carol of the Bells, Let it Snow!
Try changing Christmas songs and adding the word “brick”.
We wish you a brick Christmas, we wish you a brick Christmas. We wish you a brick Christmas and a Bricky New Year.
12 Days of Lego Christmas Day 9: 4 Real Ornaments
These are real brick ornaments we put on our Christmas Tree! Make your own brick ornaments this year.
All you need to add is a hook to the top of your brick ornament.
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 10: 1 Gingerbread House
I have a Christmas confession … we have never tried to make a gingerbread house. Besides this brick gingerbread house of course.
I think the brick clean-up might be easier.
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 11: 3 Stockings
You might not be able to crochet or knit but you can definitely make your own brick stockings! No pattern necessary.
12 Days of Lego Christmas
Day 12: Jesus Birthday Party
Jesus is the reason for the season! Celebrate a Jesus Birthday Party this year.
Invite friends over for a cupcake party and read the story of His birth.
Suggest everyone bring a new toy. Enjoy a wrapping party, make cookies, and donate those wrapped gifts to your local homeless shelter
or children’s hospital.
And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be
afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This
will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:9-12
Operation Santa Claus!
Build your own obstacle course!
1. Tape yarn down the walls of a hallway for a laser beam obstacle course.
2. Throw pillows or cushions around the living room floor. Hop from one to
another. Space them out farther each time.
3. Create a marble run using bricks.
4. Build an obstacle course outside in the snow.
Easy Decorations and Games!
Here are a few decorations (and games) your hands-on learners will enjoy. 1. Paper Plate Reindeer. Supplies: paper plate, brown paint, googly eyes, red button or pom pom, silver pipe cleaners and hot glue. Paint paper plate brown. Glue giant googly eyes to your brown plate. Glue the red button or pom pom in the center for a nose. Sculpt fun antlers out of the silver pipe cleaners and hotglue to the plate. Make It A Game! Rather than glue on the red nose, add tape to the back. Play: Pin the Nose on Rudolph. 2. Foot Print Christmas Tree. Supplies: green washable paint, large poster paper, paper towels. Paint a child’s foot green. Stamp the footprint across the large poster in the shape of a Christmas Tree. Add a yellow handprint for the star. Make It A Game! Rather than stamp on the yellow star, cut out stars. Play: Pin the Star on the Foot Print Christmas Tree.
Snowflake Fun!
Have I mentioned we do not get snow in Florida? Probably a million times. Growing up in New York I sure do miss the beauty of just watching snow fall.
Thankfully my friend, The Homeschool Scientist, lives in Illinois. She is a much better teacher of all things snowflakes. Check out her educational snowflake fun posts:

Living in a Sunshine State? Make Paper Snowflakes!
Paper snowflakes have lined our walls here in Florida. Create many and hang them up around your hands-on learner’s bedroom walls.
