Those studentswho fail tomeet the requirements of our Academic Standards of Progresswill be put onacademicprobation.
Placing a student on academic probation is at the sole discretion of a LearnKey Veteran Services teamrepresentative.Suchamovewillonlyoccuraftertherehasbeenanattemptorattemptstomakecorrectiveactions by a LearnKey Veteran Services team representative. Actions which result from being placed onacademicprobationmayinclude:suspensionofcourses,reductionoreliminationofVAstipend/housingpay,orotherissuesasidentifiedbytheLearnKeyVeteranServicesteam.AcademicprobationwillbereportedtotheVAalongwithacompletecopyofalldocumentationwillbesuppliedtothestudent.
AppealsStudentsmayappeal thedecision tobeplacedonacademicprobationbypresenting their case inwritingtotheLearnKeyVeteranServicesmanager,BrianTremelling([email protected]).EachappealwillbereviewedbyBriananddiscussedwiththeappropriateVAcounterpart.TheStudentmayrequestaconferencecalltobeattendedbyallinterestedparties.
ReinstatementStudentsmayapplytobereinstatedtotheirLearnKeyprogramsafteroneweek,butnolongerthansixmonthsafterprobation.ThestudentshouldsubmittheirrequestforreinstatementtotheLearnKeyVeteranServicesmanager,BrianTremelling,withanoutlineoftheactions/interactionswhichresultedintheacademicprobation,andhowthe issuewillberesolved if theyare reinstated.TheLearnKeyVeteranServicesmanagerwill thendiscussreinstatementwiththeappropriateVAcounterpartand/orthestudenttodetermineifreinstatementisappropriate.
Important note:Simplyfallingbehindinaprograminandofitselfdoesnotrequirethatastudentbeputonacademicprobation.FallingbehindmaysimplyindicatethatthestudentneedstutoringortochangetheirrateofpursuitwiththeVA.Fallingbehindwill,however,resultinacademicprobationifthereisinsignificantstudentactivity.

Academic Standard of ProgressStandardsofAcademicProgresshavebeenestablishedasameanstohelpourstudentstomaintainasatisfactorylevelofengagementandprogresstowardtheirstatededucationandcredentialinggoals.TheLearnKeyVeteranServicesstaffadministersthispolicythroughouronlinelearningmanagementsystems(LMS)resourcesandinformsthestudentandotherresponsiblepartiesofthestatusandstudent’sacademicoutlook.
Progress StandardAllstudentswhoengageinaneducationprogramwithLearnKeyareexpectedtoad-heretotheirclassscheduleortimelineasoutlinedintheirpre-enrollmentdocuments.DuetoFederalregulations,LearnKeymustreportanysignificantnegativedeviance from theschedule. It is important foreachstudent to immediately reportanycircumstanceswhichmaykeepthemfromprogressingintheireducationalprogrambythepredetermineddate.Finishingearlyisencouragedbecause,inmanycases,anearlyfinishwillsaveeducationbenefitsforthestudentandhe/shewillbemuchbetteroff.
GradesEacheducationmoduleorprogramconsistsofcurriculumfromtheOnlineExpertsystemaswellasvirtuallabsandexamswhichsimulatetheassociatedproctoredexams.Allcoursesinthisprogramaregradedonapass/failsystemandeachelementofeachmodulemustbecompletedwithasatisfactoryscoretoreceiveapassinggrade.
Passing percentages are:• OnlineExpert–ascoreof80%orgreateroneachsessionpost-test• Simulatedexams/simulators–ascoreof80%orgreater• Proctoredexam–passinggrade(scoresvarybysubject)
Outcome AssessmentsEachstudentisrequiredtoachievetheminimumrequirementslistedaboveforallexamstopassthecertifiededucationmodule.
Important Note:Somestudentsconfusetheterms“onlineeducation”with“self-pacedlearning.”Ourprogramsare online and they give the student flexibility to determinewhen theywill study. This flexibility allows thestudenttobalanceworkandfamilylife.Itdoesnotmeanthatthestudentcandelayinfinishingtheirprograms.Delayedfinishdatemayresult inthediscontinuanceofVAbenefits,academicprobation,orevenarequiredpaybacktotheVA.

Studentsenrolling inLearnKey’sonlineeducationprogramsassumeanobligationtoconductthemselves inamannercompatiblewiththeschool’sfunctionasaneducationalinstitution.Asaresult,reasonablepolicies,procedures,andregulationshavebeendevelopedtoguaranteeeachstudent’sfreedomtolearnandtoprotecttheirrights.
Eachstudent’s attitudemust conform to standards inherentlynecessary toadvancehisorher educationalprocess.Failuretoobservethesestandardsmayresult inare-viewofastudent’sbehavior;suchbehaviorcouldbegroundsfordismissal.StudentswhofailtocomplywiththeregulationsofLearnKeymaybedismissedfromtheonlineschoolatanytimewithnoreimbursementoffees.
Harassment and Sexual HarassmentLearnKeyiscommittedtofosteringanonlinelearningenvironmentfreeofharassment.Verbalorwrittenconductthatisunwelcome,orthatdenigratesorshowshostilityoraversiontowardanindividualbasedonanyofthefactorslistedbelowwillnotbetolerated.Harassmentofanyformisstrictlyagainstourpolicyandmayresultindisciplinaryaction.
Harassmentisanyverbalorphysicalactionbaseduponrace,color,creed,religion,gender,nationalorethnicorigin,age,handicap,orsexualorientation.Sexualharassmentincludesbutisnotlimitedtosexualadvances,requests forsexual favors,orunwelcomecontact.Sexual innuendos,useofobscene language,and tellingsexualjokescanalsobeconstruedassexualharassment.

•Cheating is theuseofprohibitedassistance (whether in thenatureof apersonora resource) in theperformanceofassignmentsandexaminations,andcopyingofanotherstudent’sworkorthegivingorreceivingofinformationoranswers,whetherverballyorinwriting.

requiredtosendabrief letter totheirLKVSadvisorandappropriateVAofficialstatinghowhe/sheexpecttobenefitfromtheprogrambothintheshortandlongterm.Thislettershouldalsooutlinethenumberofhoursthestudentiswillingtocommitonaweeklybasistotheireducationprogramandwhatdaysthosehourswillbeaccomplished.

b. WeeklyStudentCheck-In
i. Eachstudentisrequiredtocallhis/herLKVSadvisoronceaweektoreportactivity.Thismaybedoneviatelephoneoremail,buttelephoneispreferred.Thereportshouldbebriefbutincludewhatcomponentswereworkedon/completedinthepreviousweek,difficultiesinstudies,outlookforthefollowingweek,andprojectedcertificationtestdates(ifapplicable).
ii. Portionsoftheweeklycheck-ininformationarepassedontotheVAaswearerequiredtoreportactivityorinactivityonaregularbasis.Failure of a student to check-in or make progress in his/her program as outlined in the education timeline may result in program suspension and the reduction or elimination of the VA stipend benefit.
c. WhencontactedbytheLKVSadvisorthroughemailorvoicemail,thestudentistomakeeveryefforttorespondwithin48hoursortwobusinessdays.(See2.b.ii.)
3. Veterans Certify for Life Program (VC4Life)a. TheVC4LifeprogramgivesourVeteranstudentstheopportunitytokeeptheirskillsup-to-dateover
theirentirecareer.TheprogramsimplyguaranteesthatanyVeteranwhohascompletedcertificationcoursesthroughtheirVAeducationbenefitswillhavefreeaccesstoanycoursewareupdatestothatsamecourseastheybecomeavailable.
b. Students may request courseware updates under VC4Life by contacting any LKVS advisor andrequestingthecoursetowhichtheyareentitled.

4. Mentors, Coaches, and Expertsa. Studentswhoare actively enrolled in LKVSprograms receive support services througha teamof
professionalswhosegoalistohelpthestudentsucceedbycompletingtheirprogramsandgainingemployment.
i. LKVSadvisorswillbeinconstantcontactwiththestudenttoadviseoneducationstrategies,assistwithadditionalsupportmaterials,andcoordinateadditionalservices.
ii. Coachesandmentorswillworkwiththestudentstodevelopjob-relatedskillsetslikeinterviewingskills,resumereview,andintroductiontoemployers(whenapplicable).
iii. Expertswillprovideone-on-oneconsultationwiththestudentsonalimitedbasis,asneeded.
5. Program Schedulea. Aprogramscheduleor timeline iscreatedbeforeanystudent isallowed tobegin inhis/herLKVS
program.Eachtimelinewillreflectthestudent’seducationalrateofpursuitasoutlinedinsection1.a.Failuretomeettheacademicmilestonesofthetimelinewillmakethestudentsubjectto2.b.ii.

Program Withdrawal and Tuition RefundThe studentmust providewritten notice to the LearnKeyVeteranServicesDepartment.Awithdrawal form- Request forCancellation/Withdrawal - can be obtained on the LearnKey VeteranWebsite. The student’snoticemustindicatethelastdateofenrollmentandbesignedanddatedbythestudent.Additionally,writtennoticeofwithdrawalmaybegiventothestudent’sVAVocationalRehabilitationCounselororotherauthorizedrepresentative.
