MY JOURNEY

Page 2: Brian Long's Journey

Leadership is being involved with a community one may or may not be a part of. It is about stepping outside of the familiar,

making changes or influence, and allowing oneself and others to grow.

I believe that now is the time for all good men to believe in love.

MY STRENGTHSFUTURISTIC | ADAPTABILITY | CONNECTEDNESS | COMPETITION | IDEATION

FUTURISTIC: Inspired by the future and by what could be. Inspire others with visions for the future. Ability to look ahead and eliminate potential roadblocks. May play the role of a guide for others.

ADAPTABILITY: Prefer to go with the flow. Great with participation and making sure every voice is accounted for; focuses on other people. Freedom from anxiety, but able to put stressful situations in perspective. Accepting, stable, and flexible.

CONNECTEDNESS: Seek out global or cross-cultural responsibilities that capitalize understanding and humanity. Seek the mutual bond, common ground. Sense of a bigger picture. Ability to bring people together for a common goal.

COMPETITION: Desire to win. Measure progress and performance against others.

IDEATION: Fascinated by ideas. Able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

I do not believe that wicked always win. I believe our despair is a lie we are telling ourselves. In many other periods of history, people, ordinary citizens, routinely set aside hours, days, time in their lives for doing the work of politics some of which is glam and revolutionary and some of which is dull and electoral and tedious and not especially pure – and the world changed because of the work they did… Not any single one of us has to or possibly can save the world, but together in some sort of concert, in even not-especially-coordinated concert, with all of use working where we see work to be done, the world will change.
