Brian Lewellyn Young Collection p1 Description: The Brian YOUNG collection is housed in three drawers, currently in two separate filing cabinets, labeled Young Collection. The major product resulting from Brian Young's work is a 58 page manuscript telling the story of his search for YOUNG ancestors as he traced them back through John Young to William and Mary PIKE Young and his grandparents, Vincent and Elizabeth Young is Stafford County, Virginia in 1657. Files reflecting his research are currently located in the top drawer of a 4-drawer cabinet, Labeled Brian Young collection. The front folder contains his grandfather's brother's 1862 diary, and other family research notes. It is followed by a copy of his early manuscript, The Ancestry of Brian L. Young, Showing Lines to the Revolutionary Soldiers and European Royalty, Seattle, May 1957, and copy 2, corrected to August 1958. A second folder holds 66 pedigree charts back from Brian into Scotland back into the l300s, including Robert the Bruce. These are followed by the Family folders, as alphabetically listed and numbered by Brian Young himself, first an alpha order, followed by a sequential number, well organized by Young. These are indexed as Brian Young Files: Index of Names Additionally another two drawer file cabinet labeled Brian Young Collection is filled with labeled folders representing the family surnames he has researched. They are arranged alphabetically, by surname. These names are listed as filed in the separate folders. They contain miscellaneous back up materials and notes, and family group sheets on the various lines. Biography: Brian Llewellyn YOUNG was born February l3, 1917, in Yellowstone County, Montana. He moved to Stanwood, Washington with his parents in 1920 when Brian was three years old, the youngest of 5 children. This was, Brian reported, 6 or 7 years after his father lost a fortune in Montana. The family then moved 5 miles to a stump ranch near Alderwood. His mother read Edwin Markham's The Real America in Romance, and Brian became fascinated with the genealogy. He queried his father, and, at age 14 in 1931, Brian wrote his first historical record of his family. He married Arlene JONES and the couple had a son, Thomas Wayne, in 1945. He lived in Seattle, Bothell, Lynnwood (1982); Kenmore (1974, 1980) and Freeland (1983). Brian died March 19, 1997, at age 80, in Freeland, Whidbey Island, Washington State.

They have been organized alphabetically, to some extent, and may be worth browsing by others interested in submitting their applications. It also holds three large files on the LANCASTER surname including Family Group Sheets, and photo copies of military and other legal papers supporting the data. Two booklets, comprised primarily of Family Group Sheets cover the AUTIN Family of New York and New Jersey, and the Byrd Family of Virginia and North Carolina. are also filed in the back of the bottom drawer.
