Employment
Producer/Designer
Freelance
1999-Present
As a freelance producer I have worked on numerous audio productions, most recently producing a live pop/orchestral recording and documentary filmed in a single day called “Petty Troubles” (pettytroubles.com). As a sound designer I have designed dozens of live shows, a selected list is below.
Audio Designer
Ubisoft (Rocksmith)
2010-Present
For Rocksmith & Rocksmith 2014 I fully transcribed numerous rock and pop songs and created accurate, playable music levels for users to perform. Additionally, I designed the internal tool used for level creation including UI/UX design and 3rd party software development. I also designed DSP audio emulations of classic guitar equipment to be used by the player. This included art direction, audio analysis, UI/UX design and implementation. I then developed the workflow for creation of authentic emulated guitar tones that players hear when playing their instrument through the game. In July, 2012 I travelled to Wacken, Germany to provide developer feedback to the European music press and demo the title for celebrities and musicians.
For both releases I edited and wrote VO for in-game tutorials, performed and recorded VO for guide tracks and managed the intake of VO assets from 3rd parties. Additionally, I managed all audio aspects of complex video shoots with live talent and pre-recorded VO interacting on-camera.
Sound Designer/Engineer
Teatro ZinZanni SF
2008-2012
Teatro Zinzanni was a premium entertainment destination with very high technical and artistic standards. As FOH mixer I was responsible for 20+ channels of live wireless mics, 24 channels of live orchestra and 8+ channels of recorded multi-channel playback. While with TZ I had the pleasure of having collaborative relationships with clowns, acrobats, magicians, singers, musicians, dogs, celebrities, comedians, singers puppets and puppeteers. Often in the same show. I Spearheaded the transition from a legacy mini-disc playback system to a computer sound effect playback system based on Qlab. In addition to improving the audible quality of the sound effects, the new system allowed for immersive multi-channel sound design previously not possible. I designed numerous shows for Zinazanni until the show’s close in 2012. I provided audio consulting for their tour to Costa Mesa in 2012.
Audio Crew Berkeley Rep. “American Idiot” 2009
For the inaugural run of “American Idiot” I assisted in the install and rigging of a new Meyer Sound system including three large M’elodie arrays. For this production I rigged speakers, assisted in system optimization, mic’d on-stage instruments and assisted with sound effect playback and console set-up.
Sound Designer/Tech Julia Morgan CFA (Berkeley Playhouse)
2003-2012
As a designer and technician with the Julia Morgan Center I successfully designed lights and sound for numerous rental clients with tight budgets and little set-up time. I also consulted on new equipment upgrades and purchasing for venue lighting & sound improvements.
Audio Technician
Pinole Community TV
2005-2008
Managed all aspects of live audio production for broadcast TV station including concerts, sports, civic events and news. Operated and directed pro ENG cameras in the field, production truck and studio.
Live Sound Mixer
The Pound, SF
2003-2005
Mixed FOH and monitors in “Infamous” SF metal club. Repaired damaged equipment, managed load-ins for local and touring talent. Learned many valuable mediation skills working with rowdy metalheads.
