Director’s Welcome(continued)

Summer is gone. Fall and the cooler temperatures have arrived! The BBHHS Marching Bees are in the midst of the 2015 season. The half time shows have been stupendous! The band had so many activities in September. What a great night at the North Royalton Band Festival. The Homecoming parade and bonfire were made so much more festive with the music provided by the marching band! Best of all, script Bees was performed at the football game! The Homecoming week-end was capped off with the crowning of the Homecoming King, Henry Orendorf, and Queen, Sarah Ford, both members of the Marching Bees!

All of these activities could not be possible without the support shown by the band boosters. A large thank you to all who have volunteered their time. Chaperoning, passing out game snacks, selling the athletic program, and all the volunteer efforts are what make the band run so smoothly, everyone working together really makes this band great.

“Marching” into October, there are many more band events ahead. Senior Night is a band tradition acknowledging all the seniors on the field. The end of October, brings the end of marching season. Please mark your calendars to attend the Sounds of the Stadium concert on Wednesday, October 29th in the large gym. It is great to see and hear the band up close!

Trunk or Treat takes place on 10/30 after the game, please see the flyer in the newsletter. What a great way to spend an autumn evening! Another tradition, is the annual Band Citrus fundraiser. Profits from the sale go into the student’s Bee Bucks and can be used for Disney. Watch for the information about the sale on the website. It is a tasty way to bring a little sunshine into the cold winter months ahead.

The band does not have all the fun! Please join us at the next band booster meeting on 11/3 at 7 PM. There will be refresh-ments and lots of information about the upcoming events. I hope to see you there!

Band Parties have beena tradition associated withthe marching band. The partiesare typically hosted by Senior Parents, with the location announced after the game. The parties are not part of the Band Booster organization. However, if a party host is ever in need of chaperones, please feel free to email me at [email protected] and an email request can be sent out to help facilitate a funevening for all. As a parent, please feel free to check in with the host family to offer any assistance. In the past when hosting my own party, I appreciated everyone who helped with such a large group. Many volunteers make it so much easier to continue this tradition for the host families. Senior Year brings so many fun traditions that continue to make the band such aspecial organization.

If anyone, student or parent, has lost any items at recent band games, please contact

Carolyn Karkosiak at440-667-8930 or check the

lost and found tableat school.

Talking  points  –  Off  Set  for  Reimbursement  of  lost  TPP  Revenue    As  a  parent  and  voter  in  the  Brecksville  Broadview  Heights  City  School  District,  I  am  sharing  my  concerns  with  you  regarding  the  Governor’s  veto  of  the  budget  language  that  would  have  continued  Tangible  Personal  Property  (TPP)  reimbursements  to  school  districts  in  FY2017.    I  ask  you  to  support  the  expected  stand-‐alone  bill  to  be  introduced  soon  after  the  General  Assembly  reconvenes,  which  will  restore  at  least  a  portion  of  TPP  payments,  or  off-‐set,  for  2017  and  beyond  and  hopefully  avoid  another  veto  by  the  Governor.      My  district  has  worked  diligently  to  cut  costs  and  has  remained  off  the  ballot  for  additional  funds  for  eleven  years.  Now  as  we  are  facing  the  inevitable  need  to  put  a  new  money  issue  on  the  ballot  in  future,  we  are  faced  with  an  unexpected  loss  of  $1.7  million  in  TTP  reimbursement  putting  an  unfair  burden  on  our  taxpayers.    Please  support  this  offset  approach  and  encourage  your  colleagues  to  do  the  same.

Please take a few minutes to email Senator Tom Patton and Rep. Mariene Anielskito ask them to support the stand-alone bill to help restore or off-set a portion of the

$1.7 million in TPP revenue that has been taken away from our district.
