1. To support the development of knowledge and skills which will help children stay
safer.
2. For all students to understand what grooming is.
3. Using Breck’s story, for most students to be able to identify dangerous grooming
behaviours perpetrated by offenders.
4. For some students to reflect on how Breck’s story has improved their understanding
of online grooming and as a result they are better able to stay safe.
5. For all students to end the lesson confident that they know how to seek help if they
are worried about anything.

What is grooming?
“Grooming is when someone builds a relationship with another person to gain their trust for the purposes of harm and abuse”
Task 1
In your books write a list of all of the
ways you communicate with the
people in your life.
Now consider how many people you
communicate with online. Write that
number into your books.
How many of these people do you
consider as friends. Write this
number into your books.
Now think about how many of these
people you have met face to face.
Write that number in your books.
How many people do you communicate with online?
How many are your friends? How many have you met face to face?
Where can you be groomed online?
Who could potentially be a groomer?
Task 2
What behaviour's would you
expect to see from someone
trying to groom another
person?

1st group to build a profile of Lewis Daynes as he would have come across initially.
