NGHC – the formation

Who are the members?

• Volunteer responders to the crisis in Haiti met in Portland, OR. in April 2010 .

• They proposed establishment of this council to gather the expertise of the community to respond to the disaster in Haiti.

• Since this area is fairly new to our profession – it was important for this group to respond with caution, preparedness and with the larger picture of this profession in mind.

• These volunteer leaders have brought the idea to you today:

Naturopathic Global Health CouncilThe Formation:

NATUROPATHIC GLOBAL HEALTH COUNCIL

The vision of the Naturopathic Global Health Council (NGHC) is to work collaboratively to ensure that all those striving for improvement and equity in global health, specifically in naturopathic global health, have the information and resources they need to succeed, have a forum to share information, and can prepare adequately to provide care in a responsible and ethical manner.

• Create partnerships• Facilitate communication• Generate mechanisms for needs assessment and

data gathering• Ensure responsibility and ethical practices• Reach out to the larger community doing this work• And??? …….
