Dams
Hydroelectricity
Indigenous people
The dam will cut off the free flow of the river, this means that natives won’t be able travel by boat to towns and cities for medical supplies and various other needs.
A boat does not want to go over that!
FloodingDams can cause flooding in areas because they
aren’t letting enough water through. This would be the flooded area.
Illegal Logging
An illegal logging operation in the Amazon River basin.
Pig IronLand is often cleared for the mining of pig iron,
the raw form of steal. This is a piece of land from where trees were cut down, and then pig iron was mined out of the land.
Threatening Indigenous tribes have been threatened by the loggers."We are not able to go to the city, because it is dangerous for us.
We are being threatened by loggers, they call here and say they will kill us." Augusto Gavião (villager)
