FIKE ANNOUNCES BRASS NOZZLES FOR CLEAN AGENTS

Due to recent changes to FM Global’s testing requirements for clean agent systems, Fike Corporation has updated our nozzles for both ECARO-25 and FM-200. Starting May 13th, 2014 all clean agent nozzles will be made from brass. We hope you find some of the new features to be not only visually appealing, but a functional improvement as well.

Each nozzle has the Fike logo forged into two hex flats. So there should be little doubt that you have an official product built to the high standards of an approved Fike drill facility.

The brass nozzles will be machined from a forged hex body. Gone are the days of using ratchet straps or other creative methods to install the round aluminum nozzle and concerning yourself with scratching the factory machined finish.

Deflector plates remain the same but now connect to the nozzle in a new manner. A single retaining clip, in lieu of four set screws, will hold a deflector plate in place. Please refer to your revised manuals, datasheets and/or Fike toolbox for part numbers and pricing.

With new parts, come flow calculation software updates. Be sure to download and install the latest flow calculation software from our website. These new software updates will include the new brass nozzle part numbers as well as the aluminum for recalculating existing systems. Please review marketing bulletin FPGMB 14-003 for further information on software updates.

There is no requirement to change existing systems from aluminum to brass, only that all projects going forward use the more robust brass nozzle. All current orders will be filled with the aluminum nozzles. Aluminum nozzles will still be available for order, but as existing stock runs out the lead time will increase. Keep in mind brass is still non-magnetic like the original aluminum nozzles so MRI room applications are still a viable option for protection.

Again we hope you find this update to our clean agent nozzles as much of an improvement as we do. I encourage you to call 1-800-979-3453 if you have further questions or comments.
