Left: As the 2010-2011 school year comes to an enc, BHS says goodbyeto Superintendent, Don Wilburn. Mr. Wilburn will be continuing his careerat South Harrison County R-II as the superintendent. WIth his departurethe school distirict promotes former Elementary Principal, Shelly Shipman tothe superintendency. The student Faculty and staff would like to wish bothMrs. Shipman and Mr. Wilburn, continued success in their new positions.

The 2010-2011 school year also marks Mrs. Olsen’s last year at BrashearHigh School. Mrs. Olsen was the elementary special education teacher forthirteen years. After retirement, Mrs. Olsen plans to spend time with hernew grandchild and travel with her husband in their RB. Mrs. Olsen will bemissed by everyone.

With the end of the 2011 school year comes the end of Mr. Haupts service at BHS.Jeremy Haupt has taught band and music at Brashear for four years, after coming herefrom Chicago. Mr. Haupt led our brand in winning many awards, includin first place atthe Mizzou Homecoming Parade, first place at the Mizzou Homecoming Parade, firstPlace at the Worlds of Fun and Six Flags Musical festivals, best drum major two yearsin a row, and best drum line. Mr. Haupt plans to continue his career in the Omaha area.He will be greatly missed by all students and faculty at Brashear. We would like to wishMr. Haupt well with all of his future endeavors.

HOMECOMING

The 2011 “Can’t Be Tamed” Homecoming started offwithout a hitch. After being rescheduled twice becauseof a area wide blizzard, and then another snow storm,the Tigers were finally able to get on with theHomecoming dance and basketball games. Thebasketball games went well with both teams comingout victorious over Macon County, with the scores beinggirls

Varsity Softball

The 2010 Lady Tigers team finished the season with a strong record of 14 wins and 4 loses. The Lady Tigerswere led by MVP all-conference pitcher, Cierra Hines Who also finished the seasion with the highest battingaverage and the most RBIs. Shelby Salter and Meredith Thomas ,who both received 1st team all-conference,made an outstanding contribution to the Lady Tiger team. Also, Kristen Love Received honorable mention.overall, Cierra Hines And shelby Salter Helped the Lady Tigers by leading the team in both RBIs and battingavarges while Meredith Thomas led the team in runs. It was a great season in witch the Lady Tigers earnedco-confrence champions, as well as taking 3rd place in the Atlanta Tournament.

The 2011 spring baseball season came to an end with a season record of11 wins and 4 losses. The Tigers had a great season in witch Haydon Coinreceived the MVP award for both his pitching,with 103 strikeouts, and hisfielding. The highest batting average was set by Cody Snelling at.541 andHayden Housman had the most RBIs with 36. This spring Haydon Coin,Hayden Housman, and Cody Snelling were named all district players.Although the team will be loing this year’s seniors squad that was essentialin the play at state in 2010, there will be new players moving up next year.The future seems bright for Tiger Baseball.

Although the Junior High LadyTigers finished with a record of 5wins and 12 losses, they hadmany successes during theseason. Early in the season, theteam walked away from the GreenCity Tournament with a third placetrophy. Later, the Jouior HighLady Tigers beat Bevier 29 to 22and Novinger 18 to 11. The topscorer of the season was AllisonThompson, followed closely byAshley Moncrief and Alexa Acton.

The 2010 Junior High boys team fought very hard, although they didn’twin many of their games. The Varsity Lady Tigers finished a very dramatic season with 11 wins and 13 losses. the LadyTigers earned a Co-Conference Championship with LaPlata. They also took 4th place in theNovinger Tournament and Brashear Tournaments ,and a 7th place finish in the North ShelbyTournament. The Lady Tigers will lose three seniors next year including 2nd Team TCCStephanie Elsea, Abby Mckim, and Sidney Slavin. However, the Lady Tigers will return witha strong team in the 2011-2012 year with 1st team TCC members. Sophomore Shelby Salter,and Freshman Meredith Thomas.

The varsity boys basketball team ended theseas with a record of 9-16. The teamworked hard after getting a new Coach,Jayd Frazier. They took 8th place at theNorth Shelby Tournament a ConsolationChampionship at the Novinger Tournamentand a 3rd place finish at the Brashear Tour-nament. Both Hayden Housman and AdamSonger recieved 2nd Team TCC Honorsfor the Tigers. The varsity boys will losefour gruaduating seniors: Zach Reeves, JayScudder, Cody Snelling and Adam Songer.The team will return next year with agreat deal of expierence ready to win

During the 2011 Academic Bowl seasonthe varsity team won the conferencetournament before losing to NorthShelby in sectionals. Jay Scudder, SamSmith, and Alli Garrett were selected tothe all-conference teams. AdditionallyBrashear swept the conference’s highestawards, with Jay Scudder and SamSmith winning conference MVP forvarsity and junior high, respectively.During the post-season, Nick Thomasand Jay Scudder attained all-districthonors. Great work Tigers and try forseven in a row next year.
