Smuggler’s Gold! is centred around the characterof Bill Widger who is refusing to leave his EastDevon cliff-top cottage, which is falling into thesea because of erosion. In a style similar toDickens’ A Christmas Carol, night-time visitorstake Bill on a farewell trip through time to explorethe ancient Jurassic Coast landscape, stories ofhistoric fishing fleets, and the Great Landslip of1839. But, the cliff could collapse at any minute.

Will Bill find the smugglers' gold hidden in hisgarden before it is too late.......?

Hi there,

Can I introduce you to the IncomparableJungmeister which we launched on the displaycircuit in 2010 to a very positive reaction. Thischarismatic aeroplane was built in 1940 andhas an authentic eye catching colour schemeof the German State Flying Association of1938. It has a powerful smoke system coupledto the throaty rumble of a radial engine whichcreates a powerful visual image.

The Jungmeister was a legendary performer inaerobatic competition, being unrivalled for over30 years. It is a rare and iconic aeroplane, mostof them being destroyed by the Russians in1945.It's performance means any display canbe kept close up and personal with the crowd, with no need for telescopes or long pauseswhilst positioning.

We have displayed at Biggin Hill and Duxfordas part of various Battle of Britain scenarios, ormore relaxed Wings and Wheels like Sywell orRougham, and also at military vehicle shows atDetling and Damyn's Hall. Any furtherinformation can be found by simply googlingup the Incomparable Jungmeister.I havedisplayed at Branscombe with the Great WarTeam and also now have a Sopwith Triplaneavailable which may be of interest.

We aim to be professional, friendly and helpfulto both display organisers and the payingpublic so I Iook forward to participating in yourshow in 2011.

Sky4 AviationVINTAGE AND CONTEMPORARY REBUILDS

Sky4 Aviation was started in 2001 but it has a historygoing back to the early 60's based at Thruxton: workingcontinuously on Sailplanes and Light Aircraft to thepresent day. Mike King's flying started back in 63 in aJackeroo G-APAM (now converted back to a Moth).

We like to concentrate on Vintage whenever possible, keeping the old skills of wood and fabric alive. Historicaircraft are of particular interest to us and we loveworking and restoring them.

Certificates of Airworthiness and Permits are carriedout on a regular basis along with general maintenanceschedules.

We use approved professionals whereever required -always placing safety and quality first. We take pride inour work and want to do our best when ever andwhere ever possible.

“We are currently restoring a Dehaviland Rapide

(G-AHAG) which used to fly out of Exeter Airport.”

Sky 4 Covers has its roots firmly in aviation, althoughlike many textile businesses it owes alot to the fashionindustry. Starting originally as a part of Sky4 Aviation(hence the name) we made wing bags for variousvintage aeroplanes. However from time to time acustomer would ask for a cover to go over their nicenew shiny refurb!

As word spread we found we needed our own spaceand place so when Sky4 Aviation moved across theroad we took over one of their old hangers. Since thenwe have built steadily on customer recommendation, developing new products according to our customerfeedback. So from time to time we change a lineup, but many of the mainstays are still in there somewhere.

The current airfield owner flies an SR22, we have halfa dozen planes based here at the most but we doenjoy an 800 metre runway - so plenty of room forsome of our bigger aeroplanes - we've had inMustangs, Yak 11's & 52's, Hurricanes, Spitfires. Those which we cannot get in are sent uptoDunkeswell as we have a special arrangement withthem and they welcome visitors warmly!

So we have a great little team working together downhere waiting to assist you in your next purchase.

As a child Sarah Tanner was always captivated by thebrave, graceful wingwalkers dancing on the top wingat airshows. A fascination with flying and a love ofdance made performing in the skies seem a perfectmatch. However, having assumed the girls on the wingwere the pilots’ daughters, she never thought shewould actually get the chance to dance on the wingsherself.

Sarah pursued a career in events management, obtaining a degree and working on many eventsincluding Glastonbury Festival and the EdinburghFringe. It was not until seeing the team display yearslater when working at a Hot Air Balloon Fiesta thatSarah, spurred on by her adventurous boss, threwcaution to the wind and enquired about joining theteam. Learning there was a vacancy for a newwingwalker, she applied for the position and afterinterviews and an audition on the wing was delightedto be offered the job.

Sarah is now in her sixth season and since becominga wingwalker has enjoyed taking on an operations rolein the office. Working with the owner and the Directorof Flying she helps to co-ordinate and run the team, aswell as training new recruits in the art of wingwalking.

Alongside her additional responsibilities she still lovesthe adrenaline rush of looping and rolling through thesky at 150 miles per hour and climbing around theaircraft in flight. One of her favourite manoeuvres isflying inverted down the crowd line and also loves theexhilarating freedom of sitting on the leading edge ofthe top wing.

The Devon Strut is an affiliatedbranch of the UK's Light AircraftAssociation and promotesaffordable recreational flying throughthe support and encouragement ofhomebuilding, flying & self-maintenance of light, micro-light,classic & vintage aircraft.

The Devon Strut started inSeptember 1979 with a group ofeight local Popular FlyingAssociation members andenthusiastic homebuilders gettingtogether for a meeting in Plymouth, south west England. Many of thoseearly homebuilders went on to winprizes for their creations, includingRon Martin and Clive Repik whoboth built beautiful Isaac's Furies.Dave Silsbury, who built a VP2, alsowon Best Homebuilt for hisPietenpol Air Camper in 1988 andthen went on to win many prizesover the years for his workmanship.Indeed the Strut as a whole wonthe David Faulkner-Bryant Shield forbest Strut back in 1988. Headydays indeed!
