    INTRODUCTION

Education in todays world has become highly competitive and so the institutions have

also become highly student oriented. So in order to be different and ready for action the

institutions need a central resource planning that can manage the entire information

    and operations of the institutions.

The basic challenge of an institution is to centralize, track, and resolve student issues,

manage the various operations and information in a flawless manner and deliver quality

    result oriented education.

ERP systems are cross-functional and enterprise-wide. All functional departments that

are involved in operations or production are integrated in one system. In addition to

areas such as manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, and information technology, this

typically includes accounting, human resources, marketing and strategic management.

    A private security company is a for-profit

enterprise, sometimes a corporation or a limited liability partnership, which provides

armed and unarmed security services and expertise to private and public clients.

Private security companies are defined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as

companies primarily engaged in providing guard and patrol services, such as

bodyguard, guard dog, parking security and security guard services. Examples of

services provided by these companies include the prevention of unauthorized activity or

entry, traffic regulation, access control, and fire and theft prevention and detection.

These services can be broadly described as the protection of personnel and/or assets.

Other security services such as roving patrol, bodyguard, and guard dog services are

also included but are a very small portion of the industry. The private security industry is

    rapidly growing.

    What is Brand

A brand is the identity of a specific product, service, or business. A brand can take

many forms, including a name, sign, symbol, color combination or slogan. The word

brand began simply as a way to tell one person's cattle from another by means of a hot

iron stamp. A legally protected brand name is called a trademark. The word brand has

continued to evolve to encompass identity - it affects the personality of a product,

    company or service.

    What is Brand Awareness

Brand awareness refers to customers' ability to recall and recognize the brand under

different conditions and link to the brand name, logo, jingles and so on to certain

associations in memory. It helps the customers to understand to which product or

service category the particular brand belongs to and what products and services are

sold under the brand name. It also ensures that customers know which of their needs

are satisfied by the brand through its products.(Keller) 'Brand love', or love of a brand, is

an emerging term encompassing the perceived value of the brand image.

    Global Brand

A global brand is one which is perceived to reflect the same set of values around the

world. Global brands transcend their origins and create strong, enduring relationships

with consumers across countries and cultures.

Global brands are brands sold to international markets. Examples of global brands

include Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Marlboro, Levi's etc.. These brands are used to sell the

same product across multiple markets, and could be considered successful to the

extent that the associated products are easily recognizable by the diverse set of

    consumers.

    Benefits of Global Branding

In addition to taking advantage of the outstanding growth opportunities, the following

drives the increasing interest in taking brands global:

Economies of scale (production and distribution)

    Lower marketing costs

Laying the groundwork for future extensions worldwide

    Maintaining consistent brand imagery

Quicker identification and integration of innovations (discovered worldwide)

Preempting international competitors from entering domestic markets or locking

you out of other geographic markets

Increasing international media reach (especially with the explosion of the

    Internet) is an enabler.

    Local Brand

It is a brand that is sold and marketed (distributed and promoted) in a relatively small

and restricted geographical area. A local brand is a brand that can be found in only one

country or region. It may be called a regional brand if the area encompasses more than

one metropolitan market. It may also be a brand that is developed for a specific national

market, however an interesting thing about local brand is that the local branding is

mostly done by consumers then by the producers.

    Types of brand names

Brand names come in many styles A few include:

Acronym : A name made of initials such as UPS or IBM

Descriptive : Names that describe a product benefit or function like Whole Foods

    or Airbus

Alliteration and rhyme: Names that are fun to say and stick in the mind like

Reese's Pieces or Dunkin' DonutsEvocative : Names that evoke a relevant vivid image like Amazon or Crest

Neologisms : Completely made-up words like Wii or Kodak

Foreign word : Adoption of a word from another language like Volvo or Samsung

Founders' names : Using the names of real people like Hewlett-Packard or

    Disney

Geography : Many brands are named for regions and landmarks like Cisco and

    Fuji Film

Personification : Many brands take their names from myth like Nike or from the

minds of ad execs like Betty Crocker.

    Factors required for Branding.

    1. Brand Attributes

What the brand delivers through features and benefits to consumers.

    2. Consumer Expectations

    13/67

Indira School of Career StudiesIdeas Inc Mgmt Pvt.ltd.

What consumers expect to receive from the brand? Consumers always expect the more

value from the product, where Value =Benefit/cost. Cost does not only mean the

monetary cost but it includes Psychic cost, Energy cost & Time cost.

    3. Competitor attributes

What the other brands in the market offer through features and benefits to consumers.

    4. Price

An easily quantifiable factor Your prices vs. your competitors prices.

    5. Consumer perceptions

The perceived quality and value of your brand in consumers minds (i.e., does your

brand offer the cheap solution, the good value for the money solution, the high-end,

    high-price tag solution, etc.?).

We can create a positive perception by providing customer delivered value. For this it is

very important to make the customer satisfy with your benefits and values. Satisfaction

means A persons feelings of pleasure or disappointment resulting from comparing a

products perceived performance (or outcome) in relation to his or her expectations.

Practices in the company towards making brand image.

    Service to satisfaction

    100% after sale service.

Affordable price of the product and service.

On time delivery of product and service.

Learning and perception about the Branding.

In this competitive arena To create a good brand image in the market is very

    necessary.

Without having good Brand name no any company can survive for long time in

    the market.

Without Brand name it is very difficult to sell the product.

Brand awareness means the success of the product.

The study was conducted to know the market potentials for ERP software and Security

Services of M/s Ideas Inc. Mgmt. Pvt. Ltd. The other purpose of the study was to

promote the Brand name of this newly Born Company.

I have conducted a survey in which corporate questionnaire was filled. This was done to

collect information about corporates need with the ERP product and security services

which can be used by the company for the smooth functioning of the business and

maintaining good relations with them. Corporate survey was mainly conducted to find

out what is corporates experience with their present Security system and the present

software which they are using for the maintenance of their different department.

The data was collected from primary as well as secondary sources and structured

questionnaire was used to collect the primary data.

I have conducted my study in and around Raipur City, but then also the time allotted to

me which was of two months is very short for conducting a big study like this. I have

surveyed only 10companies, 20 Schools and 10 colleges whereas there are more

than 1000 corporate and more than 150 schools and colleges are available in Raipurarea.

My individual experience during the project was great, because I totally enjoyed the

work given to me. Whenever I entered into any corporate office most of them had

shown their interest to respond my queries. In the meanwhile I had also generated

positive leads to the company. There were many corporate, schools and collegeswhodidnt have any ERP software for their Company. There were also companies, schools

and colleges with ERP software but were not satisfied with their service. There were

many corporate who were not happy with their present security services.

The merits claimed on behalf of this method are as follows:

    1. The cost is low even when the universe is large and is widely spread

    geographically.

    2. It is free from the bias of the interviewer; answers are in respondents own words.

    3. Respondents have adequate time to give well thought out answers.

    4. Respondents, who are not easily approachable, can also be reached

    conveniently.

    5. Large samples can be made use of and thus the results can be made more

    dependable and reliable.

The Limitations claimed on behalf of this method are as follows:

    1. Some respondents would have indulged in providing false information.

    2. Due to less time sample size taken up for research was too small.

    3. This method is likely to be slowest of all.

    Objectives of the study:

    Primary objectives

To get training about the corporate culture and their work style and also to

find out the demerits within the company and opportunity.

To find out the companys current performance.

To find out the various areas for improvement.

To allocate the opportunities available in the market.

    Secondary objective

To enable the company to know the areas where it is lacking behind so that

management could lay emphasis on those areas and can make strategic

plans in order to improve those areas and gain competitive advantage.

    WHAT IS ERP?

ERP is one of the most widely implemented business software systems in a widevariety of industries and organizations.ERP is the acronym of Enterprise Resource

Planning.ERP is just not only software. Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is an

integrated computer-based system used to manage internal and external resources

including tangible assets, financial resources, materials, and human resources. It is a

software architecture whose purpose is to facilitate the flow of information between all

business functions inside the boundaries of the organization and manage the

connections to outside stakeholders. Built on a centralized database and normally

utilizing a common computing platform, ERP systems consolidate all business

operations into a uniform and enterprise wide system environment.

An ERP system can either reside on a centralized server or be distributed across

modular hardware and software units that provide "services" and communicate on a

local area network. The distributed design allows a business to assemble modules from

different vendors without the need for the placement of multiple copies of complex and

expensive computer systems in areas which will not use their full capacity

    .

ERP implementation utilizes various ERP software applications to improve

    the performance of organizations for:-

    1.) Resource planning

    2.) Management control and

    3.) Operational control.

ERP software consists of multiple software modules that integrate activities across functional

departments-from production planning, parts purchasing, inventory control and product

distribution to order tracking. Most ERP software systems include application modules to

support common business activities line finance, accounts and human resources.

    HISTORY OF ERP

Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) is the evolution of manufacturing Requirements Planning

(MRP) II in 1980s, which was mainly related to Manufacturing Industry and was designed to

Control manufacturing process and planning the required production with efficient output.

Whereas MRP is the evolution of Inventory Management & Control conceived in 1960s,which

was mainly designed for management of Stocks in any particular industry.ERP has expanded

from coordination of manufacturing processes to the integration of enterprise-wide backend

processes like production planning and scheduling of delivery. In terms of technology, ERP

has emerged from legacy implementation to more flexible tiered client-server architecture.

The initialism ERP was first employed by research and

analysis firm Gartner Group in 1990 as an extension of MRP (Material Requirements

Planning; later manufacturing resource planning and CIM,Computer Integrated

Manufacturing), and while not supplanting these terms, it has come to represent a

larger whole. It came into use as makers of MRP software started to develop software

applications beyond the manufacturing arena.ERP systems now attempt to cover all

core functions of an enterprise, regardless of the organization's business or charter.

These systems can now be found in non-manufacturing businesses, non-profit

    organizations and governments.

To be considered an ERP system, a software package should have the following traits:

Should be integrated and operate in real-time with no periodic batch updates.

All applications should access one database to prevent redundant data and

    multiple data definitions.

All modules should have the same look and feel.

Users should be able to access any information in the system without needed

integration work on the part of the IS department.

    BENEFITS OF ERP?

ERP software attempts to integrate business processes across departments onto a single

enterprise-wide information system. The major benefits of ERP are improved coordination

across functional departments and increased efficiencies of doing business. The reports of

various business activities are generated at a click of the mouse. Hence, facilitating the

decision makers to take immediate decisions. The implementations of ERP systems help to

facilitate day-to-day management as well.ERP software systems are originally and ambitiouslydesigned to support resource planning portion of strategic planning. In reality, resource

planning has been the weakest link in ERP practice due to the complexity of strategic planning

and lack of adequate integration of ERP with Decision Support Systems (DSS).

In the absence of an ERP system, a large manufacturer may find itself with many

software applications that cannot communicate or interface effectively with one another.

Tasks that need to interface with one another may involve:

ERP systems connect the necessary software in order for accurate forecasting to

be done. This allows inventory levels to be kept at maximum efficiency and the

    company to be more profitable.

Integration among different functional areas to ensure proper communication,

    productivity and efficiency

Design engineering (how to best make the product)

Order tracking, from acceptance through fulfillment

The revenue cycle, from invoice through cash receipt

Managing inter-dependencies of complex processes bill of materials

Tracking the three-way match between purchase orders (what was ordered),

inventory receipts (what arrived), and costing (what the vendor invoiced)

Indira School of Career StudiesIdeas Inc Mgmt Pvt.ltd.

The accounting for all of these tasks: tracking the revenue, cost and profit at a

    granular level.

ERP Systems centralize the data in one place. Benefits of this include:

Eliminates the problem of synchronizing changes between multiple systems -

consolidation of finance, marketing and sales, human resource, and

    manufacturing applications

Permits control of business processes that cross functional boundaries

Provides top-down view of the enterprise (no "islands of information"), real time

information is available to management anywhere, anytime to make proper

    decisions.

Reduces the risk of loss of sensitive data by consolidating multiple permissions

and security models into a single structure.

Shorten production leadtime and delivery time

Facilitating business learning, empowering, and building common visions

Some security features are included within an ERP system to protect against bothoutsider crime, such as industrial espionage, and insider crime, such as embezzlement.

A data-tampering scenario, for example, might involve a disgruntled employee

intentionally modifying prices to below-the-breakeven point in order to attempt to

interfere with the company's profit or other sabotage. ERP systems typically provide

functionality for implementing internal controls to prevent actions of this kind. ERP

vendors are also moving toward better integration with other kinds of information

    security tools.

    SECURITY SERVICE

A security guard (orsecurity officer) is usually a privately and formally employed person whois paid to protect property, assets, or people.

Often, security officers are uniformed and act to protect property by maintaining a high visibilitypresence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, observing (either directly, through patrols, orby watching alarm systems or video cameras) for signs of crime, fire or disorder; then takingaction and reporting any incidents to their client and emergency services as appropriate.

The attack at the WTC in New York on 9/11 had a considerable impact on the global securityindustry. The Indian market was no exception and overnight security became a top priorityconcern for most customers. This was also accompanied with a radical change in focus andthrust of the customers towards sophisticated and integrated security solutions.

The security system service industry can be traced back to the days of Al Capone and the rise of

crime in the country's metropolitan areas. Beginning with the simple installation of burglaralarms in banks, jewelry stores and warehouses, the industry has grown since then into a diverse,high-technology, $24 billion sector of the service economy.

Today, the industry offers everything from simple on-site alarms designed to deter intruders andattract the attention of nearby residents to multi-channel combination systems including burglarand fire alarms and video surveillance with web-based capability for viewing from any location.

    Research Methodology

    Research Design:

Prior to begin this project I had designed my whole procedure, which means I

arranged the conditions for collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to

combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in procedure. In which I

    had included the following decision:

    a) What is the study about?

    b) Why is the study being made?c) Where will the study be carried out?d) What type of data is required?

    e) Where can the required data are found?f) What periods of time will the study include?g) What will be the sample design?

    h) What techniques of data collection will be used?i) How will the data be analyzed?

    j) In what style will the report be prepared?

    Sampling:

When field studies are undertaken in practical life, consideration of time and cost

almost invariably lead to a selection of respondents i.e., selection of few items. In

short, Sampling is the study of the part of the population or universe, or selecting a

part of an aggregate, on the basis of which any conclusion can be taken out for

whole aggregate. In other words we can say that sampling is the collection of

information about an entire population through examining a part of it. So I have

    37 B-12/ISCS/WAKAD

  • 8/8/2019 Brajesh Report

    38/67

Indira School of Career StudiesIdeas Inc Mgmt Pvt.ltd.

selected 10 companies,20 schools and 10 colleges as sample to conduct my

    research.

    Types of Sampling:

    1) Probability Sampling2) Non-Probability Sampling

There are various types of sampling under the head of both sampling methods,

while I had selected judgmental sampling under the head of NON-PROBABILITY

sampling. According to this particular sampling method, I had selected the sample

on the basis of my analysis after considering the company requirements and

conditions which should followed by the corporate.

    Methods of Data Collection:

While deciding about the method of data collection to be used for the study, I had

kept in my mind two types of data viz., primary and secondary.

    Primary Data:

I had collected my primary data through my questionnaire which I had designed for

the organisation selected as a sample.

    Secondary Data:

    38 B-12/ISCS/WAKAD

  • 8/8/2019 Brajesh Report

    39/67

Indira School of Career StudiesIdeas Inc Mgmt Pvt.ltd.

According to me secondary data are as important as primary data for any research

because there are various data which is needed to complete the research on time.

This can be done only through secondary data. I had collected my secondary data

through internet & books such as company detail information, major clients of

company & other related data. The secondary data are those which have already

been collected by someone else and which have already been passed through the

statistical process. We can collect secondary data through following ways:

    1) Publications of central, state or local governments2) Publications of foreign governments or of international bodies and their

subsidiary organization3) Technical and trade journals

    4) Books, magazines, newspapers and internet5) Reports and publications of various associations connected with business and

    industry, etc.

    Data Interpretation:

After collecting and analyzing the data, I had accomplished the task of drawing

inferences followed by report writing. This had been done very carefully, otherwise

misleading conclusions might be drawn and the whole purpose of doing research

may get vitiated. It is only through interpretation that the researcher can expose

relations and processes that underlie his findings.

    Observation & Findings

After visiting to the different Organizations, I found out that the majority of mid scale

companies and schools/colleges have no ERP system for the managing of different

department. They use various application programs for various works like:-

    Tally for accounts department

Excel sheet for office work, for H.R dept, for attendance mgmt etc.

The reason that the organization doesnt have ERP systems are as follows:-

They dont have knowledge about the benefit of ERP Software.

Lack of good ERP in market.

    Cost of ERP.

    Fear of failure.

Generally ERP systems are very complicated to use.etc.

While doing the research, I also found that ERP is very useful software for any

type of organization whether it is manufacturing company, Service Company,

trading company or schools/colleges. The reason behind this is as follows:

    1. Time saving- It helps the organization to complete the work in a short

span of time. So it saves the time.

    2. No data redundancy-There is no need of data redundancy in ERP

software. If you feel the data once you are not required to fill the data

    again for other purpose.

    3. Also create backup file- It creates a back up file. In case if there is any

problem occurs and you lose your data then you can regain the same

data from the back up file

    g. When company was started in 2003, that time it was in infant stage and itwas a newly born company. Since company was a regional company that

time and it manages its business very well, but now company wants to be aglobal company, so as I think company should have do some advertisementand it should also allot some fund for the advertisement. Advertisement doesnot mean that T.V advertisement is necessary. We can choose the cheap

medium of advertisement like:-Newspaper, Pamphlet, Broacher distributionto the different target organization.

    h. Company should manage the soft skill classes for the employee.

    i. Company should have a professional trainer who can give the training to the

    newcomers for the overall department.

    j. Sales executive should be hired very carefully because they have to directlyinteract with the companys client, so they should know the way how tointeract with those personnel, after all they represent the company too.
