Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of the Bucs family with our Pop Warner Cheerleading program. I am so excited that

you have decided to join us this year. Our program focuses on teaching girls teamwork through stunt building and physical

conditioning during practices. We are very supportive of academic excellence and do what we need to help the girls accomplish their

academic goals as well as the physical ones. We hope that this experience creates some of the most rewarding moments in your child’s

life. Below you will find information about the program and what to expect this season.

Included in this packet is an acknowledgment page that must be signed by a parent/legal guardian and participant that acknowledges

that rules and requirements. Page seven is the contract for all cheerleaders and page 8 is for all cheerleaders pertaining to the

Regional Competition. This page needs to be signed by all participants.

The registration fee covers the liability insurance for our practice facility and the cost of first responders at the game location.

In addition to the registration fee you will need to purchase the required following items included on the attached accessory packet.

SCHOLASTICS

(Per Big Bend Pop Warner)

Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. (“PWLS”) is the only national youth sports organization in America that requires participants

to perform adequately in the classroom before permitting them to play. We believe that the standards we have set give these children a

sense of responsibility and an appreciation for academics and athletics that will help them develop later in life.

Proof of satisfactory progress in school is required. A 2.0/70% of the equivalent shall be the minimum grade point average

acceptable to practice. In cases of doubt, conflict of opinion, or if a valid report card is not submitted, the nationally published

scholastic eligibility form shall be used and deemed final.

www.popwarner.com NOTE: This rule as it relates to scholastic grades may not be made more stringent by any team, association, or league, as other

rules may be. No local team/squad may be allowed to participate in Regional/National sponsored championships or bowl games if

it has not met the nationally published scholastic requirements.

CONDITIONING PERIOD

The National Pop Warner organization mandates that all Cheer and Football teams complete a 20 hour conditioning period which

will begin on August 1, 2018. A calendar will be sent out before the 1st, but please note that it the first 2 weeks of August will be

used for conditioning and practice will more than likely be daily. During the conditioning period, the squads will conduct team-building

exercises, cheer, dance, and basic gymnastic training.

PRACTICE

Once the 20 hour conditioning period is completed, our cheer squads will practice twice a week for 2.0 hours. Our Tiny-Mite team

will practice for 1.5 hours twice a week Our practices will be held at the Miccosukee Community Park ( 15011 Cromartie Rd,

Tallahassee, FL 32309 ). Beginning in October, when we get closer to competition we may increase the practices to 3 days a

week.

We do understand that unforeseen circumstances might arise and it might cause a cheerleader to miss practice. Below is a breakdown

of what will be viewed as an excused absence and an unexcused absence:

Excused Unexcused

Illness that resulted in a missed day of school. Not feeling like going.

A school event in the evening (open house, performance, etc.). Not timely completing school work.

Something that was preplanned and a one week notice is given to the coach(s).

A written note is required from a parent/legal guardian for any missed practice. Given that we only practice twice a week, if a

cheerleader has an unexcused absence they will be required to come to the game, but sit out the first quarter. A cheerleader who

misses a practice (excused or unexcused) will not be permitted to perform any stunts or newly learned materials during the game.

This is due to the liability issues that we could face if the cheerleader hurts themselves or others.

www.popwarner.com Practice is a fun and imperative part of cheer and dance. Being there consistently and on time is very important to the development of

our cheerleaders and dancers. Practice minimizes the possibility of injuries when the girls are properly taught and it also helps them

look good when they are cheering and dancing at the different outings around Tallahassee.

GAMES

Our games are held on Saturdays at the Tallahassee Regional Fields ( 7550 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311) . In the

past, we have had two away games. They have been in Valdosta, Moultrie, and Panama City. The calendar will be provided with

times once they become available

PRACTICE ATTIRE/UNIFORM SPECIFICS

Cheerleaders are to practice in comfortable, but fitted shirts, shorts (no denim/jean) and tennis shoes. They may wear their cheer

shoes to practice. Cheerleaders are not allowed to wear jewelry (this includes earrings), hair beads, hairballs to practice or games.

For game days the cheerleader must wear the issued uniform consisting of a shell and skirt, white no-show socks, white cheer shoes,

black bloomers, and a black sports bra or cami. We are required to have uniformity throughout our squad so nothing else can be worn

unless a coach has approved it and the rest of the squad also has it.

DISCIPLINE

Our coaches will care for your child, so once your child steps on the field they are under the direction of their coaches. Parents are

asked to allow our coaches to do what they volunteered to do, which is work with the children and teach them the fundamentals of cheer

and dance. We ALL will conduct ourselves in a rational and uplifting manner at all times. We will praise our children for the

good that they do and we will teach them how to learn from their mistakes.

We care about what happens with your child off the field. Should your child have issues in school, let us know. We want to reinforce

the importance of doing well in school as well as on the field. If you feel your child should not participate, please notify your child’s

coach immediately so that she may make the proper arrangements.

COMMUNICATION

The team moms will set up a phone tree to notify families of last minute changes. If you haven’t done so already, please provide us

with valid cell phone numbers. In the event we are not able to speak directly with a parent we will leave a voicemail message; if the

option is available. Much of your communication will come to you via e-mail and GroupMe texting. So please make sure you give us

your e-mail address and check them regularly as well as establish a GroupMe account.

All of our squads will participate in the local cheerleading showcase on October 19, 2019. We will provide additional information

when we receive it on this event.

The Pop Warner Southeast Regionals for Football and Cheerleading are held in Orlando over Thanksgiving weekend. We plan on

entering all cheer teams who score high enough into this competition. Please see the attached contract regarding the competition.

COMPETITION

BRADFORDVILLE BUCCANEERS CHEERLEADING

The competition will be held in Orlando, Florida during Thanksgiving weekend (November 2019). Competition is

MANDATORY for all Cheerleaders. From our experience last year you may need to be there as early as Thursday or as late as

Saturday . We will not know the exact days until some point in November. The cost and fees will be announced at a later date.

We do understand that this time happens to fall during a holiday. Please complete the bottom of the form so that we can plan

accordingly. Please note that routines are created according to the number of cheerleaders on the team, so we will need full

participation from each cheerleader.

Regional Administrators FROM: Wynn Jessup, Chairman, National Board of Directors, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. DATE: January, 2019 SUBJECT: Parental Behavior  The National Board of Directors of Pop Warner has discussed with increasing concern the number and severity of incidents of parental violence and misbehavior in youth sports.  We unanimously endorse parent meetings and parental education in all local Pop Warner Associations.  We strongly recommend that every Pop Warner Association have at least one pre-season, or early season, meeting with parents of all participants.  Pop Warner Leagues, and their member Associations, should make clear what types of behavior are unacceptable, and that there are consequences for such inappropriate actions.  At the minimum, unacceptable behavior includes profanity, obscene gestures, verbal threats and physically threatening action.  We have all seen and heard in the media numerous stories of verbal and physical attacks.  None of us want to see any violent or profane occurrences in Pop Warner. If not already detailed, each Pop Warner League should include in their By-Laws one or more policies that specify possible penalties for unacceptable behavior.  Such penalties may include banning from practices and competitions of any parent(s) or other adult guilty of unacceptable behavior. In some rare cases, it may be necessary to prohibit participation of a child in Pop Warner due to repeated instances of inappropriate actions or words by a parent, guardian or family member.    Several states have enacted laws that elevated any act of violence at a youth sports event to felony level.  On the one hand, it’s encouraging that laws can help protect our volunteers, but, on the other hand, it’s extremely disturbing that those laws are necessary.  As a Board of Directors, we want all of you to be proactive in dealing with this inflammatory and potentially dangerous issue.  Let us all make our best e�orts to allow the children in Pop Warner to have fun without rude or intimidating interruptions from parents and adults.  The appropriate language for enforcement can be found in the National Rule Book under “Adult Code of Conduct.”   Parent Signature: ___________________________________________ Athlete's Name: ____________________________________________ Date: ____________________________
