COMPUTER SCIENCE EDUCATION (CSED) WEEKCSED Week celebrates computer science, coding and robots, December 2-9.Hands on app development, robotics, Arduino, Hour of Code events and so much more thanks to many volunteer mentors, local tech company support and collaboration with BVSD and the library during Computer Science Education Week (CSED)!

CHILDREN & FAMILY GO CLUB @ MAIN Sundays, 2–5:30 p.m., Children’s Story SpaceLearn to play the ancient and mysterious board game known as Go. Developed 4000 years ago in China, the rules are so simple they can be taught in a few minutes–but it can take a lifetime to master the game. Go boards are provided and take-home sets made of cardboard are available for free. Ages 5+.

November 3–December 7, Canyon Gallery A celebration of the talented writers and illustrators that reside right here in Colorado! Sample illustrations, along with glimpses behind each artist’s creative process; from

storyboards and descriptions of illustration techniques to how they create a character. Programs with the participating artists will take place every Saturday and Sunday (except Thanksgiving weekend) from 12-3p.m. in the Canyon Gallery. 1931 CIRCUS COLLECTION BY MURIEL SIBELL WOLLE

October 15–November 15, Carnegie Library An exhibition highlighting some of the earliest paintings by Muriel Sibell Wolle. This Circus Collection features a selection of paintings that depict a three-ring circus that toured through Boulder in 1931. This collection is on loan from St. Aidan’s Muriel Sibell Wolle Gallery.

November 16–December 30, Carnegie Library In 1967 Boulder passed two important taxes for Open Space and Transportation. The city negotiated the purchase of 33 acres on the

east side of Flagstaff Mountain to be to be added to the city greenbelt. In 1971 the Transportation Department successfully synchronized lights along Canyon Boulevard. In honor of the 50th anniversary of City of Boulder’s Open Space and Transportation departments, Carnegie Library for Local History will celebrate these highlights among the many.

This annual fall festival of dance is a wonderful opportunity for audiences of all ages to see dancers from dance companies, studios, and schools in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The showcases feature individual performers and groups in finished dances, works-in-progress, mini-classes with audience participation, lecture/demonstrations, and structured improvisations in 5–15 minute time slots. Since the showcases run all day, audiences are encouraged to come for a little or stay the afternoon. AUTHOR TALKS @ MAINHELEN THORPE: AUTHOR TALK “THE NEWCOMERS” Tuesday, November 14, 7 p.m.

The Newcomers follows the lives of 22 immigrant teenagers throughout the course of the 2015-2016 school year as they land at South High School in Denver, Colorado, in an English Language Acquisition class created specifically for them. With the US at a political crossroads around questions of immigration, multiculturalism, and America’s role on the global stage, Helen Thorpe presents a fresh and nuanced perspective.

Work one-on-one with staff to make your ideas come to life using our laser cutter. All patrons interested in accessing this machine are required to attend a Tool Orientation prior to use. Ages 14+.

BLDG 61 is an all-ages public workshop located in the 1961 portion of the Main Library that is dedicated to hands-on learning and cultivating valuable experiences in the community through making. Materials and equipment are provided at no cost for all programs.
