Configuring Business Process Blueprinting 

You use this procedure to configure Business Process Blueprinting 1.0 SP02 client andSAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP05 server in the client.

Prerequisites

•  You have installed SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP05.

•  You have installed Business Process Blueprinting 1.0 SP02.

Procedure

1.  If you want to modify system settings, language settings and trace and log

settings, configure SAP Solution Manager in the BPB client.

2.  If you want to create a BPB workspace and to work with server side applicationlogs, configure SAP Solution Manager.

Configuring SAP Solution Manager Server in the BPB Client

Procedure

1.  If you want to configure the client to a different Solution Manager system, then modify

system settings such as HTTP port number, host name, server name.

2.  If you want to modify tool settings such as language, then specify in tool settings.

3.  If you want to modify trace and log settings such as severity level or file size, configure

your tracing and logging.

Procedure

1.  Launch Business Process Blueprinting.

2.  In the Dashboard perspective, choose Change Preferences. 3.  Perform the following configuration settings.

Configuring System Settings

Procedure

1.  In the Preferences window, choose System Configuration.

2.  Perform the required settings described below.

 NameThe SAP Solution Manager server to which the BPB client has to connect

 HTTP Port number for connecting BPB client to the SAP Solution Manager server

 HTTPSPort number for providing a secure connection between the BPB client and

SAP Solution Manager server

Port Port number, which is based on the HTTP or HTTPS connection Default

ContextPackage ID which is required to establish the connection with the server.

3.  If you want the system to save the user credentials for subsequent use, select the Remember user name and password  check box.

4.  Enter the user credentials.

5.   Apply the changes.

Specifying Tools Settings

Procedure

1.  In the Preferences window, choose Tool Settings.2.  Perform the required settings.

Configuring Tracing and Logging

Procedure

1.  In the Preferences window, choose Logging and Tracing.

2.  Perform the required settings described below.

•  File Location

Log <root>\users\<username>\workspace\BPL

Trace <root>\users\<username>\workspace\BPL

The log and trace files are saved as logOutput.<n>.log andtraceOutput.<n>.log where n represents the maximum number of files andit ranges from 1 to 99.

o  Severity level

Severity   Details 

FATALThe application cannot recover from an error. A severe situation causes a

termination.

ERRORThe application can recover from an error, but it cannot perform the requ

task.

WARNINGThe application can recover from an anomaly and perform the required ta

 but it needs attention from developer or operator.

INFO Informational text, usually to say what is being done.

PATHTo trace the execution flow, for example, when entering or leaving amethod, and in looping and branching operations.

ALL For debugging with extensive and low level information.

 NONE To deactivate logging or tracing.

o  Maximum File Size: from 8 to 9999 KB.

o   Number of Rotating files: from 1 to 99.

When you run the application the corresponding log or trace file is generated at the

specified location. After the file reaches its maximum size, it gets saved and stored in asequential order. But sometimes the file size might slightly exceed the maximum range

set by the user. When the number of rotating files reaches its maximum range, the

sequence starts again from the beginning by overwriting the first file.

Result

You have specified values for the trace and log settings. You need not activate the traceand log files in a transaction, the system generates them automatically.

Configuring the SAP Solution Manager System

Procedure

1.  Generate a configuration file that contains the SAP Solution Manager System

details.

2.  To remove locks on the project entities whose changes are not published to SAP

Solution Manager.

3.  View and analyze application logs created as part of the SAP Solution Manager

System.

Procedure

1.  Log on to the administration page using any one of the below URL:

•  http://<server>:<http port number>/ebb/setup.asp.

•  https://<server>:<https port number>/ebb/setup.asp.

Server must refer to SAP Solution Manager system.

2.  Enter the user credentials.

3.  In the Business Process Blueprinting Server Administration window, in theworkspace maintenance section, choose Add New Workspace.

Server must refer to SAP Solution Manager system.

2.  Enter the user credentials.

3.  In the Business Process Blueprinting Server Administration window, expand Lock

 Maintenance section.

4.  Enter the user details.

5.  Choose Show Projects.

6.  Select a project from the list for which you want to remove the locks of theentities.

7.  Choose Remove Lock .

This unlocks all the locked entities of the project by removing the unpublished changes.

 Analyzing Application Logs

Prerequisites

The user must have SAP_ALL profile to view and analyze logs. 

Procedure

1.  Log on to a specific application server of the SAP system.2.  On the SAP Easy Access initial screen, execute the transaction code ‘slg1’.

For more information on the individual fields in the Analyze Application Log

screen, select a field and choose Help from the tool bar.

3.  In the Analyze Application Log screen, enter the default values for Object,

Subobject and External ID.

4.  Choose a Date and Time restriction.

5.  If you want to limit the number of logs displayed , specify Log Triggered by 

whicho  User

o  Transaction code

o  Program 

6.  Select the appropriate radio button for Log class, Log creation, Log source, and formatting.

7.  Choose Execute.

In the Display Log screen, you can view the logs and their messages.

In the Display Log screen, information messages appear with a green icon and

error messages with a red icon.
