BPYC ’19 Memory Verses Satan’s Plots vs. God’s Thoughts

SESSION ONE “But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” -Matthew 6:15 “The Lord hath prepared His throne in the heavens; and His Kingdom ruleth over all.” -Psalm 103:19 SESSION TWO “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” -Isaiah 40:31 SESSION THREE “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” -John 8:36 SESSION FOUR “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of Grace, that we may obtain Mercy, and find Grace to help in time of need.” -Hebrews 4:16

BPYC ’19 Discussion Questions Satan’s Plots vs. God’s Thoughts

SESSION ONE

1. We were told in Genesis 37:3-4 that Jacob LOVED JOSEPH MORE than all his children, which in

turn led the brothers of Joseph to HATE HIM.

DISCUSS: If you grow up in a home where FAVORITISM is shown to some siblings more than to

others…then what can YOU DO to keep HATRED FROM TAKING ROOT IN YOUR HEART?

2. We learned from THE MONKEY SKIT that sometimes “THE THINK WE ARE HOLDING ONTO”, is

actually “HOLDING ONTO US”…bringing PAIN AND DESTRUCTION TO US!

DISCUSS: Is there something that the Lord is DEALING WITH YOU ABOUT that YOU NEED TO LET

GO OF?

Page 4: BP Youth Camp 2019 - Amazon S3 · 2019-06-16 · BP Youth Camp 2019 Information Packet 1 Table of Contents 2 Theme, Speakers, and Support 3 Memory Verses and Discussion Questions

SESSION TWO 1. We learned that ONE EXAMPLE OF BEING “SET UP” FOR FUTURE FAILURE was children of

ALCOHOLIC PARENTS are 400x MORE LIKELY to become alcoholics.

DISCUSS: What would you tell one of those children as TO HOW THEY COULD BEAT THE SET UP?

2. We learned that eagles “MOLTING IN THE VALLEY” must have OUTSIDE HELP from other eagles

[OLD EAGLES] in order to survive.

DISCUSS: What must THOSE SAME EAGLES DO FOR THEMSELVES, which will ultimately

determine whether THEY LIVE OR DIE?

SESSION THREE 1. We learned what challenged Moses AT THE POINT OF HIS GREATEST WEAKNESS…HIS SPEECH.

God was testing Moses to see if he would SURRENDER THAT WEAKNESS TO HIM.

DISCUSS: What is YOUR GREATEST WEAKNESS THAT YOU NEED TO SURRENDER TO GOD, SO HE

CAN USE YOU?

2. We learned that right before Israel left Egypt, she was TO BORROW JEWELS OF SILVER AND

GOLD from their Egyptian neighbors and then put them on their “OWN SONS AND

DAUGHTERS”!

-AND-

We learned IN THE LAST DAYS, God would POUR OUT HIS SPIRIT and “THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS WOULD PROPHESY.” [Acts 2:17] DISCUSS: What do these two truths reveal about God’s love and concern FOR YOUNG PEOPLE?

SESSION FOUR

1. We learned from Hebrews 2:16 that “JESUS TOOK NOT on Him the nature of angels, but the

SEED OF ABRAHAM.” [A HUMAN NATURE]

DISCUSS: Why was it important for us that Jesus was not only GOD THE SON, but was ALSO

FULLY HUMAN at the same time?

2. We learned that some “SCARS” CANNOT BE UNDONE, but they CAN BE TRANSFORMED into

something lovely!

DISCUSS: How is A BOUQUET OF ROSES a good picture of “A BOUQUET OF TRANSFORMED SCARS?”

Bible Bowl ‘19 Study Information, Policies, Procedures, and Points

Bible Bowl 2019 will focus on the Gospel of John. The questions will be trivia-style and will come from the 21 chapters of John. (Don’t forget, campers can also compete as individuals in the written assessment, which will also be taken from these scriptures.) BPYC Bible Bowl Rules 1. The King James Version of the Bible will be used to make each question. Answers are expected to be given in KJV wording. 2. Teams should consist of 4 to 6 players; however, churches that do not have 4 players are still eligible to compete. 3. Only 4 players can play at one time, due to the buzzer system. 4. Churches may have more than 1 team, but each team should be a full team. (no churches with 3 on one team and 3 on another. The only exception is if there is not enough to make one full team of 4 to 6 players. Please see rule 2.) 5. Each team must have 1 player give a testimony, praise report, etc., at the end of the 10th question. 6. Timeouts cannot be called after a question has been started. 7. Timeouts are limited to 2 per half and one in the overtime period. 8. The final decision on whether an answer is correct is up to the judges and should not be disputed. 9. Every question is a toss-up and will be read aloud completely twice, before time begins. 10. After the question is read twice, the teams will then have 10 seconds to buzz in and answer. 11. If a team buzzes in before the question is read completely for the first time, the question cannot be repeated for that team. 12. If an early buzz in results in an incorrect answer, the opposing team will get to hear the question in it’s entirety twice and then given the chance to answer. 13. If there is a tie at the end of the round, 5 overtime questions will be given. 14. If there is still a tie at the end of 5 overtime questions, the team that scores first in the second round of overtime will be declared the winner. Individual Bible Bowl Written Test 1. The written test is available to any BPYC camper who is registered as of the first day of camp. 2. The written test could consist of multiple choice, fill in the blank, quoted scripture, and short-answer questions on the books that are also being studied for the current year's BPYC Bible Bowl. 3. Awards will be given to the top-scoring campers. 4. Each camper participating in the Written Scripture Test will earn "Rock" points for their church. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. -James & Amy Carrier Directors of Education

Purpose It is the desire of the BPYC Directors that each camper receive everything God has desired for them. Please review the Vision and Mission Statements of the BPYC. There are approximately 358 days between youth camps. This is a lot of time that the camper can lose the growth they have received during BPYC. We would like each camper to walk away from BPYC with a strong Holy Ghost conviction that will not only last between camps, but for the remainder of their life. Achievement Award Each camper can earn an Achievement Award by reciting, from memory, the selected Bible verses for this year’s camp to the Counselor. The selected verses will be relevant to the BPYC theme and topic(s) discussed during the AM services. The Counselor should also allow each camper to discuss how the verse is applicable to their life and how it can be put to use once they return home from BPYC. The Counselor will submit the number of campers that have recited the Bible verses to the BPYC Office by Friday at noon. If your church has a large amount of campers, split the campers among the Counselors. Good Camper Award Each camper can earn an Achievement Award by getting the most out of BPYC. What does this mean? The camper will need to participate in Sports, Activities, Services, and assist with Acts of Volunteer Service assigned to your church. The camper does not need to remain in the barracks during the day. They must possess a great attitude and show growth in their Spiritual walk during BPYC. Procedure The Head Counselor will report the number of campers successfully earning the Achievement and Good Camper Awards to the BPYC Office on Friday by 12 noon. A church can earn up to 100 Rock points for their campers earning an Achievement Award and up to 100 Rock points for their campers earning a Good Camper Award, based on the actual number of campers registered. Each camper successfully obtaining each accomplishment will receive a tangible gift from the BPYC Directors. This year’s award includes the participant’s t-shirt and logo dog tag.

Revised 3/25/15

Barracks Inspection Inspection Criteria with explanation Beds made neatly/tidy Each bed needs to be made every morning. This means the quilt/sleeping bag needs to be folded or

smoothed out over the bed. Big wrinkles should be eliminated, especially if you are trying to win the Rock.

Beds made uniformly This does not mean that you need matching sheets and pillowcases on each bed; however, this does mean that everything should be folded, uniformly as possible. For example, either all pillows are on top of the covers, or all are placed under the covers. Another example of uniformity is the side of the bed on which the zippers of sleeping bags are placed. Anything you can do to make everything on one bed look like the other beds, without matching accessories, will add to your uniformity score.

No items left on beds Any item left on the bed is a deduction of points. 1 point is deducted for each item left on the bed, except for bed covers and pillows. Please note, the inspector can lift the cover or pillow to look for items. Some examples of items that may be deductions include: make-up, bath items, Bibles, sports equipment, etc.

Section Swept The area where your beds are located needs to be swept and cleared of large debris and items. We understand that it is almost impossible to remove all dirt and dust particles, but we will be looking to see if the area has been swept thoroughly. Do not sweep dirt from your area into the section of the group that is neighboring you. Use a dustpan to remove the debris appropriately.

Trash cans emptied Each day the trash cans in your section need to be emptied. Place the trash outside the door of your barracks. You can then go to the back of the dining hall to get new trash bags to place in the cans.

Personal/trash items visible Any item left out, whether personal or trash, will result in a deduction. Fans, cords, and coolers do not have to be taken out of barracks for inspection as we understand these things are needed at camp. Examples of items that will result in a deduction include the following: soda cans, Bibles, hair/bath products, snack food items, paper, etc.

Luggage arranged uniformly There must be order in the way your section arranges their luggage. For example, luggage can be placed at the foot of bed in order of size from the largest piece to smallest piece. It could be as simple as making sure all handles are turned the same way, or all zippers being pulled to the same side.

Laundry stored under bed Trash bags and duffle bags are commonly used to store dirty laundry. They need to be placed under the bed in a neat manner. All bags should be closed/zipped up as much as possible.

Shoes lined or hidden Shoes are usually placed under the bed in lines. This needs to be done in a uniform manner (i.e. by shoe size or shoe type). Otherwise, shoes need to be hidden by placing them in luggage.

Wet-towels/cloths hanging Each day everyone needs to take a shower, and after showering, the towels and washcloths need to be draped on the end of the bed to dry. This assures us of attempts at personal hygiene for all campers. In the girls’ section, where the new bunk beds are located, do not hang the towels on the beds; rather, each morning use a trash bag and lay the towels and wash cloths on the trash bag at the foot of the bed.

Towels hanging uniformly When hanging towels and wash cloths for uniformity points, they all need to be folded the same way and placed on the same part of the bed.

Rock Points for Residence Inspection Daily Inspections will be graded on a 10-point scale 1-2 Poor (no points are awarded) 3-4 Needs Improvement 5-6 Good 7-8 Great 9-10 Excellent

Multiply rating by 10. Add both scores (boys and girls) together. This will be the daily point value for Residence Rock points. Each church will have an opportunity to win a total of 800 Rock points for the week. An example has been provided.
