BACKGROUNDI first started to have interest in factors related to women having increased hypertension because of the encounters I had noticing a gender disparity between males and females being treated.

And started to notice patterns in the responses given to me as well as the shock when they found out their pressure being > 140/90.

The GoalTo increase awareness of hypertension in female clients about factors that affect their blood pressure and behaviors that can hinder or prevent them from disregarding their personal healthcare related to the following:

The Steps to SuccessCreating a take home brochureEnsuring all the health care providers are aware resources available in the Department of Veteran Affairs. Utilize and offer these resources to help manage female patients with uncontrolled hypertension through several modalities. Contacting outlier female patients for follow-up.Having patients scheduled for nurse appointment for BP check.Notifying PCP and collaborating with Pharm D if needed. Placing consults for Move, Telehealth, Health Coaching and Nutrition as appropriate. Informing female patients on Yoga class schedule and how to sign up. Ensuring female patients have home BP monitors if needed.Providing patient education.Assisting in enrollment in MyHealthyVet. 4

EPRP for ihd5h data is July 81% and august 90.6% for all Veterans.

Recap9Education and awareness is key in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.Although some clients may have no interest in taking action at the time when given the information, the hope is that being more knowledgeable, they will make better choices or interactions. Having a multitude of choices and giving increased independence will be the most valuable tool to attain maintained compliance.

Women have increased the roles they do from being a mom in the 1950s, to a more of a career one now. But many still have demands of a mom, wife, mother, sister daughter too. And, taking care of themselves last, in their busy day to day lives. Which can lead to ignoring monitoring your healthcare for prolonged periods of time and prioritizing the care of others.

Blood pressure is the pressure of blood pushing against the walls of your arteries, which takes blood from your heart to other parts of your body. Blood pressure normally goes up and down through the day based on your exercise and food eaten. But if it stays high for a long time, it can hurt your heart, brain and other organs and lead to other problems. High blood pressure brings your risk for heart problems up. And is the highest cause of death in the U.S.High blood pressure has no warning signs, and you may not know you have it. The only way to know is by having your blood pressure checked and to try to control it. WHAT IS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE?
