Cub Scouting is the first step on the Scouting trail.
Being a Cub Scout is lots of fun. As Tigers, Bobcats, Wolves, Bears and Webelos you learn new things and new skills that you will use to meet challenges as you get older.
For you boys who are Webelos, the next step is to cross over the bridge to Boys Scouts

Being a Boy Scout is not that different from being a Cub Scout. In Cub Scouts you work with your Den Leaders who helped you with your advancements, projects and Activity Pins. In Boy Scouts you will also work on advancements and Merit Badges.
The big difference is you will be part of a team of boys working together.

What will I do when I become a Boy Scout?
In Troop 482, we have many different activities.
Our troop meets each week where we work on all different types of skills for camping, physical fitness, knot tying and First Aid, just to mention a few.
We also go camping every month. Each year there is a ski trip or white water rafting trip.
We participate in community events such as parades and perform community service for our town.

Summer Camp
At the end of each Scouting year, our troop takes a week long trip to Camp Yawgoog, in Rhode Island. Scout troops from all over the New York and New England area come for a week of fun and friendship.
At camp we keep busy working on merit badges, sports, water activities, camp shows and a whole lot more. Your first time there, you will earn your Swimming, Leather Works and Fishing merit badges!

Scouting is a lot of fun, but there is so much more to it. It about friendship, team work, leadership, Scouting principles and taking charge of your life.
The time that you and your family spend in Scouting will create memories that will last a lifetime.
