    Biomass Heating System Design

Modular SolutionsWhere customers don’t have the internal spaceavailable for a biomass heating system and fuel store,we offer a fully modular solution which houses bothof these in a single unit.

    The Green Heat Module

arrives at your site on the

    back of a lorry, fully-fitted

out, and is linked to your

distribution system via a single flow and return connection.

Low Loss Headers can be introduced within the Module for

    multiple hydraulic ‘hook ups’.

The main benefits of this approach are faster installation and

reduced business interruption. In addition, where a business

may potentially move premises, it is possible to also move the

module while still claiming the Renewable Heat Incentive at the

same rate as when it was first commissioned.

The modules are secure, providing excellent protection against

theft and vandalism. There are also a number of aesthetic

options to allow them to blend into your environment.

They can be pre-painted in a range of colours, clad in various

materials or vinyl wrapped with imagery of your choice.

  • World-class biomass heating solutionsfrom 9kW to 10MW

Wood Energy is widely acknowledged as a biomass heating

specialist and has been a pioneer of biomass heating in the

UK since the early stages of the industry. We offer a range

of wood chip, wood pellet and log boiler systems,

in sizes from 9kW to 10MW, for commercial, industrial,

public sector, agricultural and domestic buildings of all sizes

and almost all temperature ranges including steam and

    thermal oil.

    Dedicated to biomass heating

We have been dedicated to biomass heating for much

longer than most of the providers in the market and

we only provide biomass heating. As a result, our in-house

experts are highly experienced specialists with a

comprehensive understanding of the financials, the

technology, the process and the Government’s Renewable

    Heat Incentive requirements.

    Unrivalled technical expertise

We are an engineering-led organisation with significant

experience of designing, installing, commissioning and

maintaining large and complex biomass heating systems

across practically every industry. This has equipped us with

the ability to understand client requirements in detail and

therefore ensure that you have the right technology,

in the right place, and that every consideration is made

in ensuring that your system is as efficient and as robust

    as possible.

Experienced Registered InstallationNetwork across the UK

Our in-house installation team has delivered over

100,000kW of medium and large-sized projects across the

UK. We also work with a network of carefully selected

Registered Installer Partners who, as well as having existing

experience, have also completed our own specialist training

courses and have access to our technical support. This

means that you can be confident of a biomass heating

solution that meets your needs and utilises high-quality,

highly-efficient technology across boilers, feed systems and

fuel storage solutions. The Registered Installation Network

ensures consistent skill levels on a national basis provided

by local contractors with local knowledge.

    Wood Energy’s exclusive advanced technology

With significant investment in R&D and manufacturing

processes and 100,000 boilers installed worldwide,

these products are acknowledged for their high quality,

The main concerns from a number of clients relates to

the certainty of the RHI payments and boiler longevity.

The RHI payments are linked to the boiler serial number.

If the boiler breaks down and is unrepairable, then the

on-going RHI payments are lost. This can be catastrophic if

the boiler failure occurs early on in the life of the boiler and

even worse still if the boiler is outside of the warranty

period – which is normally less than 5 years.

If a re-submission of RHI is required it is likely that it will

be at the new, and much reduced rates. This is because

RHI payments are set to degress (for new comers to the

    scheme) at regular intervals.

Wood Energy understands that these risks are significant,

and for some clients, unacceptable. Therefore, Wood

Energy provides a Total Warranty for our Green Heat

    Modular solutions.

What you Should do next...If you would like to learn more about how you can benefit from the Green Heat Module, contact us at

[email protected] or by calling 0845 070 7338 and we’ll work with you to identify the optimum

    solution for your requirements.

Information we would like from you includes:

    • How you heat your building today – gas / oil / boiler size / annual fuel usage?

    • The space you have available and whether it’s inside or outside?

    • How we can access your site to deliver the wood pellets?

    • Which is your local planning authority?

    • Do you want to buy the boiler outright, explore financing options or ‘pay as you go’ and buy units of heat?

    Pre-fabricated fuel store includes:

    • Pellet extract auger

    • Fill & vent pipes

    • Earthing points for fuel tanker

    • Level observation windows

    • Explosion relief panels

Where the solution comprises two modules, these can be positioned adjacent to each other or stacked on top of eachother other as indicated below:

Fuel options and availabilityFor our modular solutions, we supply both wood chip and

wood pellet boilers. Which fuel is the most suitable for you

will depend on various factors including local availability,

delivery access, space available and project budget.

Advising you on fuel suppliers and fuel types is part of the

standard design process available from ourselves and our

    Registered Installer Partners.

Wood pellets are the most consistent and space efficient

fuel as they are drier and have a much lower fluctuation in

calorific value. However, if you have your own wood chip or

a good local supply, and a large fuel storage capability, then

wood chip could be the more cost-effective option.

Probably the single, most important fuel consideration is

quality. Fuel with a higher water content will reduce the

efficiency of a boiler significantly and, if you ignore the

guidelines provided, will potentially reduce its lifespan.

Shipping Container vs Green HeatModule• The height and width of a shipping container (regardless

of length) is always the same. Widths are 2.43m

(internal 2.35m) and height is 2.59m (internal 2.39m).

    • The Wood Energy GHMs are at least 8m (24ft) long x

    3m (10ft) wide x 11 ½ ft (3.5m) high. This means

our GHMs are over 100% bigger than a shipping

container and have been designed to have sufficient

walk around space within the room and to allow for

easy maintenance and repair as well as provide

    additional fuel storage space.

    • A shipping container is un-insulated which means that

condensation can easily occur on the inside surface of

the container. This is most likely to happen on the ceiling

of the container and can drip back on to electrical

components within and cause malfunction. Shipping

containers will rust and will require regular maintenance.

Our GHMs have up to a 40 year paint warranty and are

fully insulated meaning no condensation can occur on

    either roofs or walls.

    • All of our GHMs have a number of standard inbuilt

features such as; fuel viewing windows, external

lighting. See attached price list for the full Standard

Inclusive and Optional Extras features list.

    • Wood Energy GHMs can be tailored in size to suit

awkward or unusual applications / project demands,

providing a truly optimized and flexible solution. Wood Chip Wood Pellet
