BCS Art Class Supports Organ Dona on
Students in BCS Visual Arts elec ve class were proud to play a part in suppor ng Organ Dona on’s latest awareness program ‘Have the conversa on that saves lives’. Along with all other high schools from Woolgoolga to Macksville they were given a canvas to produce an artwork that represents the slogan of the campaign. The canvas was cut in two ver cally and then screwed together back to back. Students then painted and glued graphics to create a collage. It was then fixed to recycled parts to create a 3D interac ve artwork. Students a ended the opening of their artworks at the Coffs Harbour Hospital. The student artworks are now on display at the Coffs Harbour Base Hospital.

S C H O O L N E W S On Friday last week Jordan Goddard from the Australian Rugby Union came to our school to promote the game of Rugby Sevens. Students from Years 8 to 10 were involved in fun ac vi es and then listened to an excellent presenta on about the opportuni es for our students in Rugby Union. The focus was on girls sevens and how the game will be part of the 2016 Olympics. Rob Symonds
Safety First
Student safety is of course of paramount importance for any school. Here at Bowraville Central we have a very pro‐ac ve Work Health and Safety commi ee which meets regularly to iden fy risk and manage any poten al hazards. Some mes however it seems that no amount of planning and awareness can avoid accidents. Many of you would be aware of the recent tragedy at a Sydney school where a tree unexpectedly dropped a large limb, resul ng in death and injury. All NSW schools will be assessed over the coming weeks and months in an a empt to check that there are no trees posing a poten al hazard to anyone. I have requested that when the appropriately qualified assessor visits here (before the end of March) that not only the school’s main campus but also the farm and community garden are properly assessed. It is our hope that everyone within the Bowraville Central School community should feel safe while anywhere on site. Of course we always welcome any sugges ons at any me in an effort to make our school an even safer
place for all. Have a great week. Malcolm McFarlane
Humpy Dumpty Biscuits Year 1/2 had fun decora ng biscuits to look like Humpty Dumpty. The Children read the nursery rhyme, wrote their own ending and enjoyed reading about the real ‘Humpty Dumpty’ canon.
Beauty and the Geek Rocked! There was a record breaking crowd at the School Social last Tuesday evening. The theme “Beauty and the Geek” was a huge success as many students obviously spent hours in front of the mirror making themselves beau ful or geekish. Many thank to Judith, our D.J. and Mr Rushton for se ng up the hall and organising the games (as always) A special thankyou also to Alison, Kate and parents who worked relessly feeding and hydra ng our students. Last but certainly not least, thankyou to the teaching staff who supervised the social, as it would not happen without them. As you can see from the photos, the students had so much fun embracing the theme of “Beauty and the Geek.” S.R.C. Co‐ordinator Jan Sheriff
