TEMPLE CAPITAL PROJECTS
JoAnne A. Epps [email protected] March 1, 2018 First, I want to thank those of you who made capital projests presentaNons in the fall. Thank you, too, for your paNence in awaiNng the outcome. In coming to decisions, we balanced the nature of the proposal, its importance and urgency, the ability of the school or college to contribute to the project cost, and financial and insNtuNonal capacity.
TEMPLE CAPITAL PROJECTS
At this Nme, in addiNon to the projects you are already familiar with including: • The new Library • The 1810 Liacouras Walk project • The Mul]purpose Facility • The refiing of Paley WE EXPECT THAT TWO MAJOR PROJECTS WILL BE LAUNCHED OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS
NEW CAPITAL PROJECT-‐1
A NEW BUILDING AT BROAD AND NORRIS STREETS, on the former Peabody Hall site. This project will proceed in coordinaNon with the renovaNon of both Tomlinson and Annenberg Halls. The new building will directly benefit the Klein College of Media and CommunicaNon. The overall project and related renovaNons will also directly benefit the Center for the Performing and CinemaNc Arts. In addiNon, the project will include academic, retail, and administraNve space for the broader university. Once the overall project is completed, it is also our intenNon to consider returning the units currently located at TASB to Main Campus. This project will begin immediately.
NEW CAPITAL PROJECT-‐2
AN ANNEX BUILT ADJACENT TO THE EXISTING COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING BUILDING The design of this project will begin aler the comple]on of both the Broad and Norris projects and the new Library
TEMPLE CAPITAL PROJECTS
For those of you whose projects are not on this list, don’t despair. This is, as I previewed, the most immediate major projects to have been green-‐lighted. I am happy to have follow-‐up conversa]ons about what comes next. Please know that but for the reality of limited resources, most of the university’s senior leaders were inclined to approve all the requests we received. In other words, all of your proposals have merit.
Special Request From The BOV
