Dear Bourgade Catholic Community:

As you know, we have spent the past year developing new marketing materials to

help us tell the Bourgade Catholic High School story throughout the Valley to future

students, families, and donors. We are known for our outstanding instruction, the

use of technology and community building, and we have established Bourgade

Catholic as an institution that educates the hearts and minds of high school

students in the Catholic tradition.

One of the ways of capitalizing on the work already done is to establish our identity

with the consistent and proper use of identifiable imagery such as our Academic

Crest, BC Shield, Athletic Logo, Full Text Logo and other related indicators.

It is with great pride and excitement that I present Bourgade Catholic High

School’s Branding Policy. This policy will help us create visual identity and

recognition; it provides guidelines for the official school colors, logos, and

designated uses all in one, easily accessible location.

Effective immediately, all updated and refreshed logos are to be implemented into

document printing, marketing materials, apparel, spirit wear, merchandise,

publications and any other brand outlet involving Bourgade Catholic High School.

We anticipate a two-year process to phase out previous logos and materials before

all of our brand representation has been converted to the new layout. For any project

not covered in the Branding Guide, or to obtain logo files/printer specifications,

please contact the Advancement Office. Clubs and other groups designing and

ordering apparel will need to obtain authorization for design through the use of the

jot form available on our Symbaloo.

The Advancement Team has worked very hard in

researching and developing this policy to best guide the

future of Bourgade Catholic in the right direction.

Implementing a structure to ensure the consistency of our

brand will help build recognition and further the mission

of Bourgade Catholic High School.

COLOR PALETTE The Bourgade Catholic High School color palette consists of two main colors, accompanied by a

variation of support colors. The main palette consists of Bourgade Blue and Bourgade Gold.

Please refer to the corresponding PANTONE, HEX, RGB, and CMYK breakdowns indicated below.

Secondary Support Colors:

Support colors may be used in addition to Bourgade Blue and Bourgade Gold. Support colors

include the following:

White (Grays subject to approval)

Color Uses:

Colors may need to be adjusted based on platform. RGB colors are for digital use only. CMYK

colors are for printing use. PANTONE colors are normally used for apparel and material printing.

Colors will change platform to platform. It is important to assure we are using the correct color

mode for the correct platforms.


Apparel Policies

Approved Apparel Colors:

Before production of apparel for any individual or organization, a Brand Use JOT Form must be

submitted for approval. In most cases, shirts will only be approved if they are navy, gold, white,

black or gray. Other colors may be submitted for approval based on the purpose of the shirts. Each

request will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Apparel that incorporates patterns or more than

one base color may also be submitted for approval. Apparel proofs must be submitted to the

Advancement Office 2-3 weeks prior to your final deadline to allow time for possible changes.

Please note that the apparel policy is to be followed by any individual or any organization using our

school name or any of the school logos. This includes faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents,

donors, coaches, clubs, and committees. Any person or group that places an order without design

approval, may have their items confiscated without compensation.

Preferred Vendor:

Below is the preferred vendor for t-shirts. Any other vendors will not have immediate access to our

logo files. Please contact Bryan Burgoz at [email protected] to organize the transfer

of necessary files to additional vendors. Note that the below vendor may not be able to meet all

desired requests; in this event, please allow yourself enough time to find an alternate vendor and

Full Text Logo

Summary:

“Bourgade Catholic High School” is the primary, formal title of our school. The Full Text Logo

displays our this title with the accompaniment of “College Preparatory” in the sub-text. The left

side of our Full Text Logo is the BC Shield Logo in Bourgade Blue and Gold with a slight gradient

running through the middle. Atop the shield is a formal, abbreviated title, Bourgade Catholic.

Primary Usage:

The Full Text Logo is for use on all formal school items. This may include letterhead, envelopes,

memo sheets, business cards, and flyers for external audiences. This logo should also be

featured on school signage intended for external audiences, website heading and other online

and print marketing materials. The Full Text Logo is not available for apparel use at this time.

Usage DOs:

Do use the correct application of the logo (see pg. 7-8)

Do use the Full Text Logo on items such as stationary, envelopes, and external flyers

Do adhere to the two-color palette when using the Full Text Logo

Do adhere to the minimum size guideline

Do use the black, one-color application of the logo when printing in black and white

Usage DON’Ts:

Don’t use the Full Text Logo directly alongside other school logos or marks

Don’t use alongside names of departments

Don’t use alongside names of clubs/associations

Don’t use on photography, or on a busy or patterned background

Don’t alter the logo in any aspect of: shape, color, texture, or direction

Don’t use the full-color application of the logo when printing in black and white

All designs and logo use will be handled on a case-by-case basis.


FULL-COLOR APPLICATION:

The full-color application of the Full Text Logo is shown below. The BC Shield is in Bourgade Blue

and Bourgade Gold with a slight gradient through the Blue portion. Bourgade Catholic High School

is in Bourgade Blue and College Preparatory is in Bourgade Gold. The full-color application should

be used for digital purposes on an appropriate colored background such as white or gray.

FULL-COLOR REVERSE APPLICATION:

Below is an example of the Full Text Logo (full-color) reversed out for a solid background such as

Bourgade Blue. The full-color reverse application should be used for digital purposes on an

appropriate colored background such as Bourgade Blue or black.



MINIMUM SIZE GUIDELINES:

To ensure maximum legibility of the Full Text Logo, it should appear no smaller than .625 inches

tall on print or digital platforms and 1.25 inches when printed on objects..

ONE-COLOR APPLICATION:

While the full-color application of the Full Text Logo is preferred, there may be times when a

one-color application is appropriate. Below are the one-color applications of the logo when it may

appear in black, Bourgade Blue, or white. The logo may not be printed in any other colors. When

printing in black and white, please use the black one-color application instead of a full-color appli-

cation. One-color applications of the logo may not be used for digital purposes.



BC Shield Logo

Summary:

The BC Shield Logo serves as the most outstanding logo of Bourgade Catholic High School. It has

become the most identifiable piece of our brand and is a strong symbol for all things BCHS. It

contains the elements of school spirit in our colors, as well as, our Catholic identity through our

abbreviated title on the top of the logo and a cross on the bottom.

Primary Usage:

The BC Shield Logo is required on everything. The shield is often represented as part of the Full

Text Logo on print materials such as letterhead and envelopes. However, it may be used on its

own for materials such informal flyers, digital platforms, and apparel.

NOTE*** - The Academic Crest Logo may, in specific situations, replace the BC Shield Logo.

Please check with the Advancement Office for approval in these situations.

Usage DOs:

Do use the BC Shield Logo on everything, regardless of internal or external use

Do use the correct application of the logo (see pg. 10-11)

Do adhere to the two-color palette when using the BC Shield Logo


Do use the non-gradient version of the BC Shield when printing in black & white

Usage DON’Ts:

Don’t use the logo directly alongside other school logos



Don’t use the gradient version of the logo when printing in black and white



FULL-COLOR APPLICATION with GRADIENT:

The full-color application of the BC Shield Logo WITH gradient is shown below. The shield is in

Bourgade Blue and Bourgade Gold with a slight gradient through the Blue portion. Bourgade

Catholic is in Bourgade Blue and the BC letters and cross are in Bourgade Gold. The BC Shield

with gradient should be used for all color printing and digital platforms. The BC shield with

gradient should not be used on any apparel.

FULL-COLOR APPLICATION without GRADIENT:

The full-color application of the BC Shield Logo WITHOUT gradient is shown below. The shield is in

Bourgade Blue and Bourgade Gold with a solid, interior Blue portion. Bourgade Catholic is in

Bourgade Blue and the BC letters and cross are in Bourgade Gold. The BC Shield without gradient

should be used for all apparel design. When printing, the BC Shield without gradient should only

be used for black and white. This logo without gradient should never be used for digital purposes.



ONE-COLOR APPLICATION:

While the full-color version of the BC Shield Logo is preferred, there may be times when a

one-color application of the logo is appropriate for apparel design. Below are available one-color

applications in black, white or Bourgade Blue. One-color applications should only be used with an

appropriate background color. The logo may not be produced in any other solid colors.

NOTE: Please check with the Advancement Office before using the blue one-color

application of the BC Shield Logo on a gold or yellow background.


To ensure maximum legibility of the BC Shield Logo, it should appear no smaller than .75 inches

tall for print and digital use. It should appear no smaller than 2.5 inches tall for apparel and use

on other objects.



Athletic Logo

Summary:

The Athletic Logo is the main representation for our athletic programs. The logo encompasses an

intertwined B and C in a vertical arrangement with our Eagle logo positioned down toward the C.

The BC lettering found in the Athletic Logo is consistent with the lettering inside our BC shield.

Primary Usage:

In addition to it being the artwork on our gymnasium floor, the Athletic Logo can also be used on

game uniforms, game warmups, booster club spirit wear, and any other items associated with the

Bourgade Catholic High School Athletic Program. Logo use can range across print, digital, and

apparel platforms as long as associated with Bourgade Catholic athletics.

Usage DOs:

Do use the logo on athletic based items

Do use the correct application of the logo (see pg. 13)

Do adhere to the two-color palette when using the Athletic Logo


Do use the full-color application of the logo when printing in black and white

Usage DON’Ts:


Don’t use the logo in place of the BC Shield Logo






The full-color application of the Athletic Logo includes

Bourgade Blue lettering outlined in Bourgade Gold with the

Eagle logo in Bourgade Blue, Bourgade Gold, outlined in

white. This application of the Athletic Logo should be used

when printing in black and white.


The full-color reverse application of the Athletic Logo includes

Bourgade Gold lettering outlined in Bourgade Blue with the

Eagle logo in Bourgade Blue, Bourgade Gold, outlined in

white.

ADDITIONAL OPTIONS FOR SOLID COLOR BACKGROUNDS:

The Athletic Logo comes in two, white-outline applications for use on colored backgrounds such as

Bourgade Blue or Gold. There are no one-color applications available for the Athletic Logo at this

time.


To ensure maximum legibility of the BC Shield Logo, it should appear no smaller than 1 inch tall

for print and digital use. It should appear no smaller than 2 inches tall for apparel and use on

other objects.



Eagle Logo

Summary:

The Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagle is our official

mascot and is a bold indicator for our community. As a

strong symbol of our school pride, the Eagle comes in

full embodiment including wings, talons, and head.

Primary Usage:

The Eagle logo may be used on all apparel and spirit

wear when accompanied by the words, “Bourgade

Catholic”. All organizations are welcome to use the

Eagle logo.

USAGE EXCEPTION: In situations wear BCHS branded

apparel is worn in correlation with other branded

apparel, the Eagle may be represented on one article of

the outfit if “Bourgade Catholic” is represented on

another article. (i.e. Basketball warmups—Eagle logo

may appear on its own, on bottoms if “Bourgade Catho-

lic” is visible on tops.)

Usage DOs:

Do use the Eagle logo only when the words “Bourgade Catholic” are also visible (see exception

above)

Do use the Eagle logo as the official Bourgade Catholic mascot

Do adhere to the two-color palette when using the Eagle logo


Usage DON’Ts:

Don’t use the Eagle logo directly alongside other school logos

Don’t use the logo for any academic or formal representation of Bourgade Catholic



Don’t use any other eagle artwork in place of the logo

Don’t print the Eagle logo in black and white




The full-color application of the Eagle logo includes Bourgade Blue and Gold with a white outline.

The full-color application is the only application to be used for the Eagle logo. Any other color

applications will not be approved. For documents that will be printed in black and white, please

use the full-color Athletic Logo instead of the Eagle logo.


To ensure maximum legibility of the Eagle logo, it should appear no smaller than 1.5 inches tall for

print and digital use. It should appear no smaller than 2.25 inches tall on apparel and use on

other objects.



Vertical BC Logo

Summary:

The Vertical BC Logo encompasses an intertwined B and C in a vertical arrangement but does not

have the Eagle logo represented. The BC lettering is consistent with the Athletic Logo and the BC

Shield.

Primary Usage:

The Vertical BC Logo can be used by all internal organizations within the Bourgade Catholic

community. When the Vertical BC is used, it must be accompanied by another Bourgade Catholic

High School indicator. For example, using “Golden Eagles” or “Bourgade Catholic Drama Club” in

addition to the Vertical BC would be acceptable. The Vertical BC Logo is reserved for apparel use

only.

Usage DOs:


Do use the logo in accompaniment with other brand indicators

arrangement.

Primary Usage:

The Overlapping BC Logo is available for use on headwear items only. This logo may be used on

hats, visors, headbands, helmets, beanies, or any other headwear.

Usage DOs:

Do use the Overlapping BC Logo on headwear only


Do adhere to the two-color palette when using the logo


Usage DON’Ts:

Don’t use the logo on ANY non-headwear items including: print, banners, shirts, jerseys,

programs, or facility branding.

Academic Crest Logo

Summary:

The Academic Crest Logo is a historical Bourgade Catholic symbol. Encompassing several aspects

unique to the school, the Academic Crest displays our primary title, our founding year, and our city

and state locations on the outer portion of the logo. The interior displaying the Latin phrase

“Maria Spes Sapientium” translating to “Mary, Hope of the Wise”, along with other symbols relat-

ing to Catholic identity.

Primary Usage:

The Academic Crest Logo is primarily used on documents and materials for formal education

purposes. Some items include graduation programs, diplomas, and academic documents.

Usage DOs:

Do use the Academic Crest Logo for formal education purposes

Usage DON’Ts:

Don’t use the Academic Crest Logo on any apparel

Don’t use the logo on any, non-educational, stationary including letterhead or memos

RECENT APPAREL DESIGNS THAT WERE APPROVED

The examples below are a number of recently approved apparel designs by some of our programs.



LOGO USE VIOLATIONS:

The examples below show color and graphic violations of various BC logos. The guidelines apply to

all school logos including the BC Shield, Athletic Logo, Eagle Logo, Vertical BC Logo, Overlapping

BC Logo, and the Academic Crest. strict standards.



Internal vs. External use

Internal:

Internal use will be considered the use of Bourgade Catholic branded material within the

on-campus, day-to-day community. Internal audiences may include: students, parents, faculty,

staff, or visitors on campus.

Materials that are used internally may include: upcoming event flyers, club t-shirts, and event

programs.

External:

External use is considered the use of Bourgade Catholic branded material off-campus and outside

of our day-to-day community. External audiences may include: prospective students, non-BCHS

parents, or hosting high school sports’ audiences.

Materials that are used externally may include: Sports’ uniforms, promotional items, club t-shirts,

or any sort of advertisement.

Why is this important?

It is important to understand our internal and external audiences to assure we are identifying to

the best of our ability. The use of our Eagle logo in the gymnasium is an internal use. The use of

our Eagle logo on a t-shirt which can be worn off-campus and in the public eye can be considered

an external use. The Eagle on the floor of our gymnasium is less dependent on other Bourgade

Catholic indicators, where as the Eagle logo on a t-shirt must have the words Bourgade Catholic

visible to establish an accurate identity.

External and internal uses can be very transparent and it is crucial that our community be

conscious of the potential audiences when using our brand.

Guidelines for constructing a flyer designated for external vs. internal use. Avoiding clip art and

implementing designs that are audience-specific and audience-friendly.

Facility Branding:

Appropriate logos and artwork files to use for facility branding. Includes things such as: rugs, ban-

ners, paint colors, wall artwork, furniture designs, etc.

Social Media:

Proper use of brand on social media including personal profiles. Correct logos to use for display.

When to share Bourgade Catholic content on your personal page. Designating guidelines for

external accounts and profiles.
