Dive Etiquette - Day Boat
• Keep your area neat, contained• Use a boat bag (not a suitcase/travel bag)• Listen to the briefing• Camera rinse is for CAMERAS!!• No smoking• Puke/Pee where appropriate• Garbage (even food waste) goes in the can• Be ready when it's time to go diving
Dive Etiquette - Liveaboard
• Keep your area neat, contained• Follow the rules• Listen to the briefings• Use your share of the fresh water (not all)• Wash yourself. Change clothes sometimes.– You need more than one shirt on the trip
• Tipping is good
Dive Etiquette - Underwater
• Don't chase anything• Don't hump other divers (we all need room)• Don't touch animals (reminder: coral is an
animal)• Mind your buoyancy…the folks behind you
want to see things too!• If you feel something when you kick, stop
kicking
Dive Etiquette - Underwater
• Don't dangle - it wrecks the reef, harms your gear, and may get caught on things
• Check your gauges regularly• Where's your buddy? (hint: they aren't in your
camera viewfinder)• Dive the planned profile• Relax and don't be the air hog
Dive Etiquette - Night
• CONTROL YOUR LIGHT like a loaded gun• Use a tank light• Use a compass• In a group? Stay with the group• Don't blind the animals• Take a backup light• Know how to use hand signals at night
Dive Etiquette - After Diving
• Leave the boat in an orderly fashion• Pick up any mess you made• Rinse gear in the proper locations• Log your dives - soon after diving - add notes
