During this time the roads are still open to vehicular traffic… and bicycles are vehicles! The ride is not a race nor is it a paid event; it is however a unique shared experience, a fun way to meet people, and a decent workout. This information is specifically for the UMass Lowell program that will join the larger event. For Public event information visit the event website: https://www.midnightmarathon.org/ COST: UML STUDENT, FACULTY, OR STAFF $15/$5 w/own bike | GUEST $45/$25 w/own bike. The following is included in the cost of this program: Instructors/Trip Leaders Activity Equipment Transportation – This trip is van supported. In the event that participants are not able to finish the ride the van will be available for transport. PHYSICAL EXERTION LEVEL: VIGOROUS* Duration: 4-6 hours Distance: 35 to 42.2 miles Climb: 1,400 feet *Exertion levels are estimates based off of individuals who regularly fulfill the US Department of Health & Human Services Physical Activity Guidelines and have no major limiting conditions. SKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE No previous bicycle touring experience necessary. Participants must be able to confidently ride a bike, using shifters

(multiple gears), for an extended period of time.

TIME ACTIVITY NOTES

9 PM, 4/19/20 MEET AT THE OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CENTER/BIKE SHOP

5 Lawrence Drive, Lowell, MA 01854

9-10 PM PREPARE FOR ACTIVITY Check in, use restrooms, fill water bottles, change into synthetic layers, evaluate and load bikes, itinerary review, Introductions, intro game, equipment selection

10-11 PM DRIVE TO SOUTHBORO STATION Unload at Southboro, bike to the start line in Hopkinton, hang out until Midnight and start the ride

12:00-3 AM ACTIVITY Bike from Southboro Station to the Finish Line via this route; stop to eat food along the route – (bring your own food nothing is open)

3-4 AM MEET AND DRIVE BACK TO LOWELL

Meet at the Make way for Ducklings Statue in Boston Public Garden 4 Charles St S, Boston, MA 02116. Drive back to the Outdoor Adventure Center/Bike Shop, clean up, review course content/answer any remaining questions, etc.

5 AM, 4/20/20 LATEST DISMISSAL This should be determined based off of participants needs and the intended goals of this trip- speak to your trip leader
