Boss in Training, Maya Morgan

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good day. I wanted to let

you know why I am interested in becoming a BOSS teacher

and the ways that we as teachers can spread joy in our

classroom throughout the year. Unfortunately, it seems like the

only time when children are truly happy is when they are at

recess or on holidays from school. This should never be the

case, but I believe it has a lot to do with how we are

communicating and interacting with our students.

Dr. Peter Ross states in his book, “Children, like anyone else,

don’t like to be yelled at. Yelling is a verbal punishment and

rarely works.” As a result, this Christmas edition of BOSS

NOW will show you effective ways to get children to comply

without getting into an arguing match or simply losing your

cool.

It is all about you being the BOSS in the classroom, while

spreading joy this holiday season. So sit back and relax, and let

the BOSS take over.

Best wishes for the New Year!

MEET THE BOSS

TIS’ THE CLASSROOM TO BE JOLLY 2012

CEO & Founder of Becoming a BOSS Teacher

Dr. Peter Ross

Q. Why did you choose to be a psychologist?

A. I was intrigued by behaviors of children, especially

deviant behavior. At the same time, I was convinced that

there were ways to treat / remediate abnormal behaviors

outside the typical approaches.

Q. What are your greatest memories of teaching?

A. I still vividly remember my very disturbed special ed

students. They were so unique and bizarre, yet

appealing as individuals at the same time.

Q. If there was one thing that you wanted teachers

across the world to know, what would that be?

A. Teachers must advance the profession by working out

of their professional folders and leave the personal

folders at home.

Q. What is BOSS?

A. BOSS is a composite of research and science based

treatment / motivation practices for teachers. It is a

'package' method which is ready to be implemented by all

teachers. The only variable left for success is 'teacher'

motivation to master the principles.

Q. Can anyone be a BOSS?

A. Yes, the beauty of BOSS is that anyone can learn it. It's sort

of like learning the script to a play. After a while, you become

that new person on stage, where the stage is the classroom and

the 'actor' becomes the transformed teacher.
