“IF YOU WANT SOMETHING NEW,

YOU HAVE TO STOP DOING

SOMETHING OLD” ~ Peter Drucker

STOP DOING THE SAME

THINGS AND EXPECTING

DIFFERENT RESULTS

The game has changed and the way companies are

structured needs to adapt to the new workforce and

ubiquitous connectivity.

TOP DOWN HIERARCHY IS

SLOWLY EVOLVING AND

DYNAMIC GOVERNANCE OR

SHARED LEADERSHIP IS

BECOMING THE

ORGANIZATIONAL MODEL

FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

Companies like HolacracyOne and Governance Alive are leading

the way with process/procedural systems and training to make

shared leadership a reality, however lack emotional intelligence

solutions.

You commute into an office every day

Work is “9-to 5”

You have a full-time job with benefits

Work-Life balance is about two distinct, separate

spheres

You work for money, to support yourself and your

family

Source: Ross Perlin, Fast Company.

Work can happen wherever you are, anywhere in the world

You’re on call 24-7

You go from Gig to Gig, Project to Project

For better or worse the line between work and life is almost

entirely disappearing

You work because you’re “passionate” about a “movement”

or a “cause” - You have to “love what you do”

THE RULES

OLD RULE NEW RULE

“HR software has been kind of like the step-child of the family – it doesn’t

get a lot of the budget or support, but the realization has come that human

capital is the most important capital you have”.

Bronwyn O’Shea has a Master’s degree in

Entrepreneurship and Innovation and is writing the results

of a dissertation on holacracy, the new organizational

model made famous by Zappos. Her soon to be awarded

PhD in Organizational Psychology provides the backbone

to expertise in organizational design, shared leadership

and human capital management; as you need to know

what the organization looks like first, before you can

understand and hire the right people and then develop

and implement human capital strategies to keep pace with

the new world of ubiquitous connectivity.

Having worked in IT and software development / QA prior

to her 12 years in HR / BPO / recruiting she is certified in

behavioral profiling and a master practitioner in NLP, past

president of the NHRA - LA, previously most senior IT

person at G4TV (a Comcast company) and just ended a

role as CFO for an executive search firm. She is a rare

breed who bridges product, sales, operations and finance,

and who understands that people combined with systems

are key to organizational success.
