1986년 4월 29일첫방송을시작한이래벌써햇수로 6년째접어들었습니다.

그동안애청자여러분께서

소망하시던자그마한책자를 ,저의게으름탓으로이제야내어놓게되었군요.

모쪼록희망음악엽서쓰실때

스펠링걱정도덜어내고 ,음반모으시는데에도

PAT METHENY (1954. 8. 12.– )

캔서스시티태생의팻매스니는소년시절 “후렌치-혼”을다루기 시작했으나 , 13세가 되던 해에 웨스 몽고메리의 기타연주를듣고 ,크게감동받아기타리스트가되기로결심.이후타고난천재성으로불과 19세의나이에위치터 ,토

페카 ,캔서스시티등에위치한주요학교에 “기타음악의이론과실기”를가르치는최연소강사로기록됨.이듬해인 1974년 (20세), ECM 레이블에서 바이브라

폰의 1인자인 게리 버튼과 함께 3매의 앨범을 취입했으며 (74–77년), 이 무렵 위스컨신 태생의 천재 라일 메이즈(1953.11.27– )와함께팻매스니그룹을결성 ,현재까지다수의앨범을발표해오고있음.

1982–84: 그래미 3연패1982년의앨범 Offramp는불후의명반.

KEITH JARRETTE (1945. 5. 8. – )

1945년 5월 8일펜실베이니아의앨런타운태생. 3세때부터피아노를연주하기시작했으며 , 7세때부터작곡하기시작했음은물론 ,첫독주회를가짐.오늘날그가발표한수많은작품들은그가 15세때부터

기록으로남긴자작곡들로부터취입된것이며 ,버클리음악학교에수석입학했으나학교생활에적응하지못하고 , 1년만에휴학함.

1965년 (20세),아트블레키 ,롤랜드커크등과협연하기시작하여 이듬해에 찰스 로이드 그룹에 가입 , 유럽과 소련순회공연을치름.

1969년 (24세), 찰리헤이든 (베이스), 폴모션 (드럼)과함께트리오를결성 ,두번째유럽순회공연을치름.

1970년으로접어들며마일즈데이비스 ,듀이레드먼등과협연. 칙코리아와함께클래시컬-재즈피아노의양대산맥으로현재에이름.

CHICK COREA (1941. 6. 12. – )

매사추세츠의첼시에서태어난그는 4세때부터피아노영재교육을받기시작했으며 ,그의아버지인아르만도코리아는30년대메인스트림-재즈의중진트럼피터로서 ,칙코리아에게음악적유전인자를상속해준셈.실제로코리아부자 (牀存)는보스턴과케이프-코드등

지의재즈클럽에서같이연주했으며 ,당시칙의연주를들은관객들은신동이라고극찬. 고교시절엔조부모의고향인남미의 라틴 음악들을 주로 다루는 스쿨밴드를 조직 , 다양한음악세계를터득해나감. 뿐만아니라 , 트럼핏 , 드럼 , 바이브라폰등의악기도틈틈이욕심을내어봤으나 ,고교시절자신의 레슨 스승이었던이탈리아계피아니스트살파토레술

로로부터꾸중을듣고 ,피아노에만전념.이후바흐 ,베토벤 ,쇼팽 ,모차르트 ,스칼라티를 5대우

상으로삼고 ,클래식기본기에전념. 컬럼비아대학으로진학했으나 1년만에 ,다시줄리어드로재입학 ,그러나마일즈데이비스와키스자렛처럼타고난자유분방함으로학교생활

에적응하지못하고휴학함.1962년 (21세)부터 프로 데뷔. 몽고 산타마리아 , 윌리

보보 , 허비 만 , 블루 미첼 , 스탄 게츠 , 사라 본 , 마일즈 데이비스 등과 협연 , 단숨에 스타덤에 오름. 데이브 홀랜드 ,배래 앨츨 , 앤소니 브랙스턴 등과 60년대 후반에 아방가르그룹서클을결성하여활동함.

1970년 ,퓨전역사에길이남을 RTF (return to forever)를 결성. RTF의 중기 보컬리스트 게일 모런은 그의 아내.이후허비행콕과전미및유럽순회조인트리사이틀펼침.현재키스자렛 ,밥제임스와함께퓨전키보드의 3인방

으로군림.

리오데자네이로의 까르모에서 ,아랍계 아버지와 이탈리아계어머니사이에서태어난이민 2세. 타고난천재성과음악성으로어린나이에놀라운피아노테크닉을보이기시작했

으며 ,성장하여파리로유학 ,그곳의현대음악과민속음악의대가인 Nadia Boulager에게오케스트레이션과음악분석학(Analysis)을 쇤베르크의 수제자인 Jean Barrque에게 작곡법을각각사사받은정통파.음악수학을마치고브라질로돌아온그는자신이개량한

8줄짜리기타주법에주력하면서 , Badolim, Kalimbas, San-zas, Cuicas, Bambu zal등의민속악기주법터득에도노력을쏟음. 특히 아마존 유역에 현존해 있는 원주민 (Alto XinguIndians)들과 같이 생활하면서 , 그들이 보유해온 전통음악을배포하는데많은정성을쏟았으며 ,지스몬띠특유의작품세계는바로이러한노력의소산임.

오클라호마에서 Chesney H. Baker라는 본명으로 태어나 ,네덜란드의암스테르담에서 58세로세상을떠남.

1940년 (11세)에캘리포니아로이주했으며 , 1946년 (17세)에 소년병으로 미군예대 (U.S. Army Band)에서 3년간트럼펫을연주했으며 , 1950년 (21세)꿈에그리던색소폰의1인자찰리파커와 3년간협연 ,세계적인명성을얻어냄. 이후게리멀리건쿼텟을거쳐자신의그룹을결성 ,유럽순회공연을가짐. 그특유의부드러운연주와노래로소위웨스트코스트쿨재즈의 1인자로평가받았으며 ,특히수많은여성팬을확보했었음.말년에는 주로 북유럽에서 연주생활을 햇으며 , 1988년

전과환경을이어받았던불후의천재베이시스트. 어릴때부터드럼 ,피아노 ,색소폰 ,기타 ,베이스등거의모든악기를다루었으나 ,베이스가자신의적성에가장합리적이라고판단함.

17세때부터 이미 슈프림즈 , 템프테이션즈 , 낸시 윌슨등거물들의반주자로눈부신활동을전개하기시작했으며 ,1975년 (24세)엔마이애미대학브라스밴드의지휘자로학생들을가르치기도했음. 같은해에 Blood, Sweat & Tears와협연했으며 , Epic레이블을통해첫셀프타이틀솔로앨범을공개. 이듬해인 1976년웨더리포트에가입하며세계적인 스타덤에 올랐고 , 자니 미첼 , 팻 매스니 등과 협연하며 ,신기의테크닉을과시했으나플로리다의어느클럽에서취
