Healthy Learning Academy will be participating in Screen Free Week from Monday, April 30th through Sunday, May 6th. To prepare for this event, students will be recording their regular screen time activities this week. Screen time activities include, but are not limited to television, computers, smartphones, and tablets. During this week, students will use the provided chart to write down the screen time activity and how much time was devoted to it each day. Then, during Screen Free Week, students will chart the alternative activities that they participated in instead of sitting in front of a screen. With the amount of time that students are on their phones or playing video games, this may prove to be a difficult task for many, so plan some fun activities. Go for a walk together, cook, or plan a family game night. This activity will count as a grade in SS, ELA, and math, so make sure that students are working hard to meet their goals!

The Week In Review Miscellaneous

SS: We took a break from SS to prepare for the FSA, but will start up again next week with the American Revolution.ELA: This week, we learned about the suffix, “-ology,” but were focused on FSA testing. I’m sure they did great!Math: We finished our textbook, and are ready for testing on Monday and Tuesday! Science: We just tested on forms of energy, and are preparing for the FSA on 5/1-2.

Word of the Week:Our word of the week was “conservation.” Conservation is the practice of caring for resources, such as air, water, soil, minerals, fuels, plants, and animals, so that all living things can benefit from them now and in the future. By conserving our resources, we can make our world a better place.

St. AugustineAll current Safety Patrol members are eligible to join us on our field trip to St. Augustine on Tuesday, May 8th. The cost of the trip is $85.00 and covers transportation, as well as admission to the Castillo de San Marcos, the Lightner Museum, and Flagler College. Money and permission slips are due by Friday, May 4th.
