Protect the spine of the book by always using a bookmark.

Pencils are not bookmarks.

Anything too thick will break the book's spine.

Aw, I forgot my books at home. Now I have

to wait until next week to check out new

books.

You know that football book

everybody likes…I think I lost it.

Man…you got to find it…everybody wants to

check that out.

Return your book on time so others may enjoy it.

Mind Your Library Manners Excerpt from The Library Dragon by Carmen Agra Deedy

• Treat a book like you treat a friend—you don’t wipe your nose on your friend.

• Remember to check hurt books into our Book Hospital

• Return books when due, so others can enjoy. (This is a library, not a bookstore!)

• If you need help, ask! (That’s why I get paid the big bucks.)

• Quiet, please. (Whisper in the library; yell on the playground.)

• Happy Reading, Pumpkins!
