CRACK THE CODE is a two-level series for students in Upper Intermediate classes.

CRACK THE CODE I introduces students to exam items of B1 level, and builds up their skills

towards the B2 level examination, regardless of whether the candidate sits for the Michigan or

Cambridge exam, with exam preparation practice in all parts of the examinations (Reading -

Grammar - Speaking - Writing - Listening) while CRACK THE CODE II mainly focuses on B2

level.Key features of the book include:

• At-a glance grammar and syntax: Students are tested in both MCQ and transformation

format, enabling them to build a thorough grammar basis for the Michigan or Cambridge

examinations. • All three types of Reading Comprehension: The two reading texts in each unit are given

in exam-style in ECCE and FCE format, interchangeably. Students are exposed to all 3 types

of reading comprehension, including MCQ type, gap filling and matching statements to text.

Hence, students are taught to read for detail, opinion, main idea, structure of the text and

finally read for specific information and details.

• Thorough Vocabulary expansion: Each text is followed by letter-numbered exercises of

confusing/related words, derivatives, phrasal verbs, verb expressions, prepositional

expressions and special vocabulary.

Each unit is followed by a whole Vocabulary Review page to ensure that students have

thoroughly learnt the Vocabulary in each Unit.

• BCCE/ECCE-based speaking and writing themes: Students become familiar with the

format in odd-numbered Units. They have the opportunity to speak and write about a variety

of topics prompted by personal questions and language banks.

• PET/FCE-based speaking and writing themes: Students become familiar with the format

of Cambridge examinations and are guided to tackle the upcoming writing task of the FCE

exam while at the same time practicing the note-style PET writing task.

• Teaching prioritizing skills: The pyramid-based exercise taught in each unit helps

students to choose what they will actually talk or write about. The prompts given guide them

to produce, to prioritize and elaborate on the topic.

• ECCE-type listening tasks: Parts 1 and 2 of the listening tasks follow the ECCE format,

given in a shorter version than the actual examination.

• FCE-type listening tasks: Parts 1 and 2 of the listening tasks are based on the FCE

examination.

CRACK THE CODE I is accompanied by WORKBOOK I, where there is

practice for every section of the vocabulary and grammar found in the

Coursebook. CRACK THE CODE I is also accompanied by a COMPANION, which serves as

a useful vocabulary aid for students, organized in sections and pages of the

book for faster reference.

CRACK THE CODE I REVISION TESTS are also available.

OCEAN DISCOVERY This is a Caribbean - themed ocean experience

that puts guests close to dolphins, stingrays, warm sea penguins and

sea lions. The guests can actually touch most of the animals, and

learn about their conservation and protection, through talks and slide

shows.DOLPHIN HARBOR SHOW For years, visitors have been fascinated by

the acrobatics of the dolphins. Now, for the first time, in the Dolphin

Harbor Show they can actually help train these intelligent creatures.

All food is carefully controlled to make sure the dolphins stay fit and in

good health, and there is an informative slide show telling us all about

dolphin life. And don’t forget to watch the Dolphin Water Polo match!

PENGUIN WORLD In Penguin World you will see these friendly

creatures swimming slowly through the pool or sunbathing on their

rocky home. Found in South America, these flightless birds are sure

to entertain.SHOUKA SPLASHTIME New this season is the Shouka Splashtime

Show. Shouka is a beautiful killer whale who, without warning,

suddenly jumps high in the air and lands with a huge splash, soaking

everyone who is watching. Children love it! There is also a small

museum where guests can learn all about killer whales. Six Flags

Marine World is situated in Vallejo, California, off Interstate 80, just 30

miles northeast of San Francisco, 50 miles southwest of Sacramento.

Six Flags Marine World opens on the last Saturday in April and closes

on the last Saturday in September. Closed last week of May.

A. CAPYBARA: While the capybara is a rodent, it is nothing like a guinea pig or hamster. The capybara grows up to 4 feet long and usually weighs more than a hundred pounds. In some areas, capybaras are illegal to keep as pets, so make sure that there’s no animal protection law where you live. Capybaras' care and food cost a lot and they need plenty of room and preferably a pond or pool. B. HEDGEHOG: Despite having spikes, hedgehogs are incredibly friendly and they can become extremely affectionate with their owners. Hedgehogs make perfect pets since they’re calm and low maintenance, however, they require lots of attention, especially when they’re babies. Before you buy a hedgehog, make sure you check the legislation in your area. Also, bear in mind that hedgehogs are nocturnal, so if you are not a night owl, you’d better choose another pet.

C. MINI DONKEY: The miniature donkey is cute and fuzzy, but if you decide to own this unusual pet, be ready to buy a pair of miniature donkeys. The thing is, mini donkeys like company and they can’t stand loneliness. Although miniature donkeys are small, they still need plenty of room. They are usually at least 3 feet tall and can weigh over 300 lbs. Miniature donkeys are great with children and they pose no threat to them. D. FENNEC FOX: Although most foxes usually misbehave as pets, the Fennec fox is an excellent pet to own. This cute desert animal tends to be small (they are smaller than cats) and smart. You can even housetrain your Fennec fox to use a litter box. The Fennec fox is playful, requires a lot of exercise and is not dangerous. When fully grown, your Fennec fox will be about the weight and size of a Chihuahua. They like to dig holes, so make sure they don't get out of your garden!
