In this weeks lesson we are going to have a go at a 2 measure groove in the style of Led Zeppelin'ssticksman - John Bonham.It sounds great if you play it with a layed back feel at a medium tempo, although it worksas a great kick drum workoutwhen played at a quicker pace.

In the first part we are simply going to loop this rhythm that misses out the down beat on beats 1 and 3. This idea isthe foundation of the groove. The snare on the 'e' of beat 2 and 4 should be ghosted to create an echo of the back beat.

In this section we are simply adding a kick drum to beat 1.

In this 2 measure version of the groove, we have the down beat landing on beat 1 of the first measure, but not in the2nd. We have also added a different sticking pattern to beat 4 of bar 2 to give the groove a conclusion or 'turn around'which was typical of Bonham's playing.

Here is the same groove with accents on the 'e' of beats 1 & 3 played on the snare. This adds some dynamicvariation to the groove.

This is the same groove again, only this time we have added a group of single stroke 16th notes on beat 4 of thesecond measure.
